:( Why?

It's very similar to the Pro so I guess you could re-use a lot of GUI code and graphics..?
No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

Probably there are not many differences outside, however Pro is a completely different beast inside. When looking externally some things seem simple but reality can be surprising :) I can assure it's not a copy paste task at all! Sorry.

Multi-size GUI
We have rewritten Discovery Pro graphics engine and is now configurable in three window sizes: 1x (400p), 1.5x (600p) and 2x (800p). No more squinting when trying to look at some parameter or search for a led anymore! Of course CPU has been dramatically optimised at any configuration.
.
Great new feature :tu:

The 1.5 size is perfect for my situation. Thanks \m/ :)

Thank you for the larger GUI sizes! Some devs are really underestimating the importance visibility has on the usability of their plugins, especially on hi-res monitors. Consciously or not, I have a tendency to favour synths and plugins I can interact without eye strain, unless there's something exceptional that I can only do with a particular plugin. I'll still work with a difficult GUI but it's not a pleasant experience, especially when values are displayed in single-pixel characters.

This is like rediscovering Discovery all over again. :tu:

+1

The backlash of all those 80's synth was that programming became like keyhole surgery.

And that problem kind of reappears when one needs to use a magnifying glass to view the GUI of a plug on a hi-res monitor. The joy of tweaking disappears when one can't see the controls properly.

Yep like the larger GUI, makes things a lot more pleasurable on a hires monitor setup.

Got a question regarding loading wavs into DPro. Can this be used for simple sample play back? I've watched the video from the website and rtfm. It appears that some wavs load and some not. What is the accepted wav sample rate, length and any other details please.
What i find is soe playback and some not.
Also in the manual it talks about different folders to the install path. Not that it's an issue as it opens explorer browser to manually locate. Although being able to set a default path in settings would be beneficial like many other plugins allow.
I was also confused regarding the sample files for OSC3, it states they need to be zipped and extension changed to dwb, is this only for sfz files as some of the waves (already mentioned) work regardless.

Thanks for you time.

Last year, you said to me that in an update for Discovery Pro, it would get compatibility with patches made with Discovery. Is it still planned?
I'm asking because I've been working on a bank for Discovery and if Discovery Pro owners can't use it, it's a little lame. Thanks and congrats for the update.

Any 16 / 24-bit, mono / stereo WAV file should work.

Could be a good idea, in the meanwhile I'd recommend using symlinks to change data location.

dwb is a zip containing WAV files. It was designed to make banks with custom wave oscillators easier to distribute and import. You can also create a folder with .dwb extension and it will behave as a bank too, which is handy to add or remove files quickly.

Discovery Pro can load Discovery banks already. Import them using Edit > File > Import Bank. Pro users would have to swap bank filter to zero-delay for Discovery 4 files but it's a five seconds operation using Edit > Swap > Bank Filter > New.

Cheers :)

Hi George, thanks for chiming in. Will give a couple of wavs a go and if an issue will email you via support.
symlinks are mapped all over my rig and yep, already incorporated :)
Thanks for helping me understand the dxw extension scenario.
Hope alls good in DSP land :)

I can verify that the linux Discovery Pro works in bitwig. I changed the
bitwig plugin search path to /home/you/Documents, and moved
all the native linux vsts to that location. As suggested, I put
the discoDSP folder inside, and also the DiscoveryPro.so.
Scanned and running

This was in Fedora 20, using the virmidi.control.js
as the generic midi controller script.

If that sounds a bit Greek, the details of using that, and other scripts
with linux, are off the front page of the bitwig forum, but easy to find,
copy+paste for some things, in the linux related topics.
And Thomas Helzles helpful scripting topic is a sticky,
started the ball rolling, and keeps pushing more progress
into the bitwig community. 8)

Very nice :) We have receive more Linux reports and the majority have been positive as well. Cheers!

I'm loving the bigger GUI, I wish more developers would make GUIs bigger than laptop size. Sighhhhh.

George you have a new customer (once I sell some plugins)! Loving the Nord inspired sound and all the presets plus being able to actually not have to squint at my 23" screen.
