I bought the upgrade, and it was worth it.
:)
Although I've got 3 crash reports to send in, and certain other weirdness going on, but nothing too bad. I'll look into that soon.

Looks like nobody has noticed my report of stepping when you try to play with MIDI expressions like pitchbend or modwheel. Just goto the INIT patch, set pitchbend to 12 and play some bends of differing speeds, and tell me what you hear! This is synth-breaking stuff when you actually try to play expressively over MIDI! How can it be missed?! This is important stuff!!

I guess I'll try and email the developer. (Edit: excessive complianing removed, but developers take note, I am avaliable for beta testing, and I have a track record for finding bugs if they're there!).

Sorry, as a beta tester I did miss that. Sorry. I'll check it out tomorrow. Having to entertain the wife right now, so not able to check immediately.

Thanks for looking into it. It's quite easy to miss really, because of the lush sound and FX of the synth, but it shows up quite readily on a spectrogram.

No, but I'm doing that now. Was hoping to email the dev but it looks like signing up to the forum is the only way. Good job I have a personal password slave to keep track of all these passwords :hihi:

I did that but did not hear any stepping.
Could you upload an example-recording?

Here's a spectrogram showing Dune2 on the left and Diva on the right.

Here's audio of it:

BTW, I made a post in the Synapse Audio forum, but forgot to mention what synth it was. Now I can't find my post to correct it, I guess it's being moderated.

Please note, this applies to ALL MIDI modulation, not just pitch bends. I first encountered it modulating sync freq. with aftertouch.

MIDI Performance controllers are smoothed, not necessarily as much as in some other synths. It always involves a trade-off, maximally smooth means having maximal latency, while rough transitions are instant, allow more fine control and rapid modulations.

I think we'll make this adjustable, so that everyone can choose their favorite setting :)

I don't get the stepping with pitch of mod wheels here.
Maybe the controller has some settings that can be changed for the modwheels.
I'm on the novation impulse. Which controller are you using?
Check the manual to see if there is some modwheel curve settings or similar.

I also get the stepping when using the pitch bend on DUNE 2's gui as well as when using my Axiom contoller but I never use a pitch bend wheel slowly enough to notice any stepping and rarely use a bend range more than +2 -2 probably due to the fact that I'm primarily a guitar player at this point so bending up/down a whole tone is natural. I can't think of a case where I'd need to slowly increase or decrease pitch enough to notice the stepping but I see Rich has offered a solution so everybody should find a setting they like............. :)
