oh, how strange. Hmmmm, this will require more study. What is happening here is at first normal. Open mojito, select the control you want to "learn" and it shows up, move the midi control, alt/m and walla. BUT if I want to add another control, it doesn't work the same way. This doesn't make sense to me because I know I've done this.

Crap, now I'm going to go mad until I figure out why

edit: DOH! you have to "midi learn" the controls (which is a one time procedure) I only had the one done. Crisis averted

I agree. CPU performance, better MIDI and a theming option. Although theming is only cosmetic whereas the first two are a must imo.

I don't care about the bundled instruments nor effects. I only care about the DAW being solid, CPU efficient and user friendly. That's where the focus should be.
There are lot of good third party instruments and effects, even free ones. So why waste time on this?

Finally: more accurate documentation. There are too many undocumented features.

I like the color scheme too. But I think with proper theming it could look even better.
There are some really mouth watering Reaper themes available for example.

I like it just fine. There are a SHITLOAD of things I'd change if I could but I don't really look at it as ugly anymore because mostly it's functional. I Think I've already said that though

Hosts have always frustrated me. There is no charlie sheen

they all are missing something. There isn't a single one that isn't like "f**k, I wish.... x/y/z "

I actually always like logic. That dark background and the way it makes colors was great.

I prefer X over 9 myself.

In my opinion, if you go dark, you have to go all the way, not get stuck in all sorts of lighter shades of grey

I'm going to order Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 to deal with the CPU issue. It is a lot more CPU efficient and stable to host plugins in VEP and then use them in Studio One, even if the VEP server is on the same system.

The additional benefit is that you can use additional PC's/Mac's as VEP servers for plugin rendering using a gigabit ethernet connection, effectively doubling or tripling your total CPU power.
I've read quite a lot about VEP recently and I'm ready to take the plunge.

My subjective $0.02 on the UI colors or whatever ...

I do like Cubase's clips better, graphically, than S1's kinda flat clips, and although there are lots of color box choices for clips, numerically speaking, the shades aren't as varied as they initially appear to be and some things like PT seem to have softer and better clip colors. It definitely looks better with translucent clips though, if that option is on.

I think the general overall contrast in arrange is great, never had any trouble spotting anything there, and it's probably the first time I'd used something with a really dark arrange background, but yeah, it's not the most colorful thing out there nor does it try to emulate anaglog knobs and all that, which some people seem to really like.

The midi note coloring is arguably poor, not really bright enough and/or contrasted enough when you're looking at multi midi in multiple colors, like some of the colors being not all that easy to distinguish from another color. The coloring there seems to be a bit to dim.

The gray / blue of the general UI is ok with me personally though, mmv on that. If they did do something differently with it I might end up liking it more visually though, hard to say without actually seeing it differently.
