Everyone has to work hard. :P Actually it would be a very unique thing charging money for a update for 64-bit compatibility... i can't imagine that.

Sonalksis did this.

I hope that one day the PPG will be open for import own wavetables ;)

Circle Synth is great, you can create your own wavetables and import them, Dune 2 also ;)

Antares did too.....

All the failling companies as it seems.....

FFS ... please don't encourage Waldorf to charge us money for this upgrade by saying that company xyz did. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

Ok, so 2 companies did it, i'm sure there's the one or the other company which did it too, but most companies don't. Anyway, maybe Ingo has some info regarding that. I can't imagine it, especially considering their plugins aren't exactly cheap, and they did a free 64-bit update for Waldorf Edition.

@ Aloysius: I highly doubt they make business decisions based on people's opinions in internet forums threads. :D

Well, in my experience, it's never a good idea to plant bad seed (if you can help it). ;)

If I had the energy for it, I'd list every company on the planet that did not charge (just to balance things up). :)

Based on what? When Waldorf Edition got a 64-bit update, it was 100% free.
Based on Ingo's words about how hard and long was the process of upgrading all the plugins. Sure, it's my speculations. Let's see if Ingo got some info about it.
Your idea of the updates costing money is very strange IMO and not more than your own speculations.
What is true is that the updates will cost money for Waldorf also as an external developer is paid for them.

Ingo
so it's free update then?

For sure, but that doesn't necessarily mean they gonna charge for the updates (i'm sure you don't mean that too). It could also be paid by the revenues from the updated plugins, or from sales of their recent hardware, or from the upcoming plugins etc. pp. Waldorf will know. Everything else is speculation.

Isn't that exactly what i said in the first part of my post you quoted?

The idea of a paid update is from Igro and nobody else...

Yes, i understood that. Although i quoted you, my post wasn't really directed at you, i just used the quote to make the point that noone can know how they're about to finance the updates. :)

Thats why I said failing companies.... If they consider themselves helpless or failing let them charge, but I think Waldorf is in good shape nowadays and that they won't.

I'd be extremely surprised if these upgrades would be chargable, judging on the success of their recent hardware sales I would perceive these a vehicle and stepping stone from soft to hardware.

But what do I know...I sit here, respond and read forums :)
