I refer to this thread:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 6&t=410919
The minute folks post legitimate complaints IK lock threads. Now the last post said it was locked by the OP, which is the SAME thing as the OP is an employee/representative of IK...
SO in reference to that thread, I create this one for folks to keep posting genuine complaints and issues, without the threat of big brother IK stepping in....

so yep, locked by IK, and a new thread started afterwards to continue advertising spam without any pesky 'customer feedback'..D.H.Miltz wrote:Before anyone starts complaining: Thread was locked by OP, not by a mod.

Oh waaah...."advertising spam" now.....
I,for one, actually caught one of those "spammy" ads just yesterday on my cell...a simple nagscreen about the new iRig mic for Android phones....I just clicked the thing off. I have been waiting for the thing...
As for the locking of his own thread....geee....i can se that thread go for miles with every kind of oft-repeated complaints, many of which have been gone over and fixeded....
Oh...and before people start accusing me of being a 'shill' for IK....you can stuff that idea...mmm'kay?

IK is a poor company and always earns the best positions in the "worst plug-in company list".
I would stay away from them... problem solved

Makes a change from the MODs usually locking IKM threads on here.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

There were two threads about iRing which I felt we'd take heat about, actually since we have 13 videos and I was splintering and didn't want to double post. Feel free to complain in the other thread about iRing-related (or iRing app related) issues/concerns, of course (which is what I expected to happen to make it flow into one thread). Thanks.
Edit - to clarify, the locked thread was locked a good bit after the main iRing thread was posted. I did not "start another thread" after locking it, the other thread had been there.

We also have a much better notification system that is unobtrusive, to be debuted with an upcoming app and that can also be discussed in the remaining thread too. I thought the idea behind some complaints was fewer IK posts here, but I won't lock another thread again and I'm happy that people would rather have had more. We have plenty of mobile-related news to posttrimph1 wrote:Oh waaah...."advertising spam" now.....

And I thought I was the only one thinking exactly the same way. Some of their products are really good but the company with their marketing monkeys here and all other bigger music production forums totally sucks. Stay away from IK. That's the only language they understand.4damind wrote:IK is a poor company and always earns the best positions in the "worst plug-in company list".

Could end up locked, but for now just moved to Everything Else, as a general bitching about IK thread doesn't fit in Mobile Apps and Hardware.

General bitching? It looks like there was a thread to bitch about a specific thing, the user locked (I did not know this was possible before this thread) it and this is an expression of frustration about that.
I think a musical program that makes you see commercials is QUITE INSANE myself; and it's good I think for us to have a context for that kind of opinion. I think IKMM should want to hear it. In general, their M.O. is marketing-driven to rather the extreme IMO. I think they make good things, I have not been disappointed with any product I paid for, but I cannot support a company that does this, particularly.
Just before AT3 came out, I had purchased every single bit of AT2. AT3 provided no break. I think that's unusual and it was offputting to me at its price point. The price point evidently did not work out splendidly. So AT3 became "free", but most - if not all, I think I can't recall success once in loading - the presets in it are crippled, which goes hand-in-hand with making it a browser so you can remedy this with your credit card at once. Am I the only person in the world that finds this gross? This isn't enough, now a commercial. And this is a support issue? That is compound insanity. Get rid of it, stop insulting your customer. What on earth are you thinking?
I wonder if people are discouraged to post now by 'this place makes me tired'. I'm tired myself, and I wouldn't want to moderate it. I think you weren't exactly forced into that, though.

The first post was about the specific thing; the rest less so. On the specific thing, there's still a thread open in Mobile Apps to complain about the pop-ups (about which I agree with you).
The locking one's own thread thing came in with the new board software.

Some of their products are great but I really don't like the way they market their stuff. They're also the first company that made me see the follies of C/R copy protection. I've had major problems with their authorizations servers being offline. In my experience it's actually been far more intrusive than iLok (which I'm not a huge fan of, either).

once again may I just state it is important to separate the man from his job, we all have to make a living somehow. Everyone knows that I have spoke out against IK's policies as well and I am not a big IK fan at all, but the OP of this thread is indeed a very good friend and it's a friendship that has enriched my life. We never talk of IK tbh, we just have a lot of other things in common. So keep in mind, he's doing his job...I cannot say whether he agrees with what his bosses tell him to do or not but I do know you gotta do what you gotta do.
I would like to think that he relays this dislike of customer service to his superiors, but that is not mine to say. All I can say is I'm sure many of us have had to do things we disagreed with to keep our jobs, me it was in retail and cold calling customers...goes against my beliefs 1000%...I hate being called by sales peeps so why would I call people for sales? To keep my job, that's why.
Mods here at KvR may have the same issue, it doesn't affect me because I am only the mod of a sub-forum and only have powers within that forum and those are very limited*. I think a mod needs to accept they are going to lose friends and lose popularity by taking the task (which they do not get paid for). Even with Meffy I saw this (others may disagree), he is quite popular but you cant please all of the people all of the time so he was in the direct line of fire many times for doing his job. Doing one's job on forums like this can mean you give up some freedom to be yourself.
So once again, I suggest people please remember to separate the person from their job
*all I can do is lock, move threads out of the forum, split threads, make stickies, delete threads or posts, edit posts...that kind of thing, but I have no disciplinary type actions besides locking a thread or deleting threads/posts and again only in the DIY forum. I need a general mod to move threads into the DIY forum for me. FWIW I have only once deleted a thread and that had deleted in the title, never locked a thread or never had to edit a thread or post...I have moved some out of the forum because they do not belong but I always leave a shadow topic and not until after I have permission from the OP. Thanx to all they DIY'ers here who make it easy for me by being respectful and helpful.

HUGE EDIT:...I erred, I thought this was a thread started by Peter
...not that the OP isn't a wonderful person as I am sure he/she is but I was speaking of Peter...sorry for confusions

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.
