Well, maybe i didnt make myself fully clear, (sorry if so,) so let me try again.
Im not in the least concerned with what kind of reverb a developer puts in a synth. If a synth doesnt have the kind of reverb i need for the task at hand i can always slap on a 3rd party one and thats that. All the reverberation i want.
No, what astounded me was Sascha saying something which pretty much translates into "We'd rather the users didn't make Stab and Pad presets for Bazille because for one thing these kinds of sounds wouldn't be doing the synth justice and for another that's not what we think the synth should be used for". It was this statement that made me wonder "Why would Sascha care about what kind of sounds the users are going to use the synth for?". "And why would he want to make the creation of certain sounds more difficult (i.e. dependent on 3rd party FX) by consciously not adding a certain kind of reverb? ".
That is what i was asking myself because i have seen so much of that lately. The wish for another reverb type added to Bazille came from 4damind, not me. Like i said, if a synth doesnt have the verb i need i simply strap a plugin after it and thats that.

I dont see what Sascha said as something negative. They thought the design of the synth maybe not for being a new bread and butter synth, but what the user does they can not control, and I don't think they see this as somenthing going against their design or care about that too much.ENV1 wrote:Well, maybe i didnt make myself fully clear, (sorry if so,) so let me try again.

I think maybe your reading into a bit much. Sascha stated it wasn't the focus of the synth and wouldn't do it justice meaning having a reverb or effect that didn't work as well as another type would be detrimental to what they were trying to achieve. Sounds reasonable and sensible to me.ENV1 wrote:Well, maybe i didnt make myself fully clear, (sorry if so,) so let me try again.

I asked about a chorus being added and Urs said to me in the forums they didn't put one in because Bazille would sound better without it so I took it as some advice that it's better not to use one.

But i wont deny that certain 'events' in a certain other area have certainly contributed to the developing of a certain heightened sensitivity when it comes to this particular subject matter.

What do you guys think of using reverb, delay and other effects on a synth or same insert as opposed to them on a send.
Is the use effects only on sends rule different for synths?

There are no rules. But generally one would use a reverb on a send if one wants to put multiple soundsources in the same "space". That applies to any soundsource, be it synth, guitar, vocals, whatever.Kaboom75 wrote:What do you guys think of using reverb, delay and other effects on a synth or same insert as opposed to them on a send.

I generally like to think of effects having their own character as much as a synth does. Reverbs especially, and even when they give you different types, their types are not the same as the ones other companies give you by the same name.
I like it when a synth has built in effects to a point, because it becomes part of its character in the patch. However, I hate when they make it obscure in being able to edit or turn them off. And ironically, every sound that sold me on the synth in the first place, I have to edit or turn off the effects to make it usable in the mix.
But equally ironic, the lack of effects is the only reason I never use Tyrell in that regard. Something to do with a little instant gratification in stumbling across a sound I might use? Seems if they have Spring, it should also have Plate though. And Chorus/Flange has also seemed to be more of a point in the instrument somewhat equal to the synthesis itself.

Bazille has been one of my top synths for a couple years now... with no effects at all... so any effects at this point seem like a luxurious addition. I think the Distortion module fits Bazille perfectly and really adds to the sound design. The Spring Reverb has its own unique character.
Another Bazille patch (not so normal)

Trying to find more reasons why I shouldn't buy this.
But I'm really at a loss to why I wouldn't.
Not sure if it's GAS or if as Urs said on another thread, it appeals to the 'geeky' in me. But at this intro price, I'm finding it futile to resist!
