Crap......iLok/Pace is a virus and I won't install it. I guess the quest for a vsti version of the D-50 will continue...... :?
Have to +1 on this. PACE has an annoying way of operating in the background at all times, even after the install, that I find suspicious and obtrusive.

(Other Software I have using PACE runs around .5-1.% of CPU as a constant but can also drive regular use of VSTs up by another 5%. I find that unacceptable.)

I misplaced my registration cards after I moved. I'vw contactws Korg support, considering Digital Synsations was definitely on my buy list. I love the sound of digital, ans both my nanoKey and MicroKey 61 are registered.

I hope I get a reply soon. The suspense is killing me.

Hope it works out for you :)

I didn't have the nerve to wait for support response here in Norway, I grabbed it second hand in the forum earlier today

But I don't regret it, it sounds gorgeous, and uses relatively little CPU :tu:

Everything has become so much easier with PACE/iLok now after the new manager was introduced, it's a breeze to handle the serial, and can choose whether to put it on the PC, the iLok, or both.

Too much shiny. Still waiting. :D

I could take a picture of the MicroKeys, if they wanted me too. If not, I guess I've got a great excuse to add a nanoPad or nanoKontrol. :)

You need to limit that rez, bro.

FYI, the nanopad is a bit rough... unless you have gorilla arms and don't need much more than a couple velocity readings out of it... I actually hacked mine up a bit to loosen up the touch somewhat... The nanokey on the other hand I've found to be surprisingly useful... I actually only bought it as a portable 2 octave bass extension to go along with an akai LPK25, or maybe even a 37 minikey unit at some point in the future... I literally want a setup I can throw in a small bag, but practically speaking I can't be physically limited to just 2 or 3 octaves max (well, for some things it's OK, but for piano/keys/organ etc. I need 4 octaves minimum... Anyway, even for just quick screwing around times, demoing sounds, quick idea recordings, by itself the crazy little nanokey is pretty useful, though the keys take some getting used to...

Do you have the 1 or the 2? If you have the 2, are the "keys" soft rubber or hard plastic? They keys on the 1 are hard plastic and surprisingly noisy and hard on my fingertips.

Post

I have the 2... keys are hard plastic, they're a bit "loose and clicky" (or, I should say they're a bit clicky because they're a bit loose)... but yeah, you could say the keys are noisy... def. don't want to be playing Carnegie Hall with this thing... that being said, I can get a decent range of 16-128 on the velocity meter in battery... I really only bought to hack it up for a prototype, but I'm finding it actually a bit useful day-to-day... :)

Bummer. The QuNexus is soft rubber and much better.

When you say "hurts my fingertips", how so? I couldn't imagine rapping on this thing hard enough to hurt my fingers... basically equivalent to typing on a computer keyboard with plastic keys. Maybe the old version had a much longer throw? The 2 allows you to go pretty light if you want, doesn't take much to press the keys...

Which Korg "support" did you contact? I can easily take a photo of my nanoKontrol2 if they want it. I didn't think Korg User Net would be of much help with this, but Korg usually suggests we contact the User Net with software/controller support questions.

Korg USA. I looked up the User Support page on Korg User, and it recommended we do one for our region. Is there someone else I can contact? I'm honestly curious. :)

(No email back yet, darn it. It did say two days, but I can hope, right? :D )

Yes, maybe the 2 is an improvement on the 1 after all. I couldn't use the 1 on the plane, it was so noisy (OVER the noise of the engines!) that I was afraid of waking up my fellow passengers. A computer keyboard doesn't come close to having this issue.

I don't know whom we should contact. Korg USA doesn't sell the software directly; they leave that to Korg User Net. And Korg User Net has no actual "company" (or official support system) to organize the UVI promotion, especially since it's being given away if you bought a piece of Korg hardware.

I guess I'll try Korg USA, too. It'll probably take a couple of days. If anyone knows whom we're supposed to contact, I'd certainly appreciate being pointed in the right direction! :?

I'd say even the 2 would be noisy in that context then. Just lightly tapping on it sounds similar to typing on one of those $9.99 Inland PC keyboards... big chunky keys that make a noticeable plasticky click sound when you press them. It's Not quite that bad, but reminiscent of that. In fact, with the 2 you get a nice click with a release sample on the back end. :tu: :hihi: In terms of feel, if you're really interested in the Korg for some reason, def. try one out at a Guitar Center near you. They don't feel terrible, but they're def. comparatively noisy.

For feel and noise level in 25 keys check out the Akai LPK25... keys feel solid and smooth for a little minikey device. They also have a MPK Mini which is 25 keys + 8 pads + 8 dials, but obviously takes up a little more room than the LPK25... I decided to go with "flexibility" and went for the LPK25 + nanoPAD2 (16 pads vs. 8 ). I just might pick up a MPK Mini to round out the collection :hihi: , maybe with upcoming mem day sales. The key feel on the LPK25 is a bit on the stiffer/springier side, like their full size controllers, which I prefer. Others I tried, like the iRig controller, felt a bit lighter, which for a minikey controller is like 2 strikes in my eyes... never tried the Korg microKEY, but curious to see what the feel is like...
