When did you activate your Pianoteq 4?

Post

Pianoteq 5 is available (I just installed it)
To upgrade, find the "upgrades" option in the "product" menu. Then click on the first upgrade option and enter the serial number you would like upgraded.

@Karten; Did you get to pick two of the three "flavours" (or just one, with two instruments in it)?

Thanks,
G

Just a bit confused about the D4 - in Pianoteq Pro 4 it comes with it but it looks like in P5 it is now a paid addon - does't that mean if I upgrade to 5 it will revert to being a demo till I pay for the addon D4 too?

I didn't pick anything. When I entered the serial to upgrade, their system said I didn't need to as it was already v5. When I went into my user area, I could download Stage 5 and the K2 addon was already in my account (I already had the electric pianos one)

You get D4 for free when you upgrade to Pianoteq 5. Also you get the K2, as well, I think.

OK just played around a little with my D4 and Blüther settings in V4 vs. V5.

V5 in general seems a little brighter, less boxy. More wood in the attack, which was missing in V4.
Also less mids (which were kinda overpronounced in V4).

In general I would say V5 sounds better than V4, but it depends on the presets. Sometimes I can hardly hear a difference. Depends on the velocities you play, also.

...and I think the biggest difference is actually imparted by the various microphones you can select now. Try them out (if you're on Standard or Pro) - IMHO that was the "thing" that was missing for Pianoteq to become really believable. Because I don't know of ANY piano recording that used mathematically perfect omnidirectional microphones to record the piano. Do you? :)

Now even that last hurdle has been surpassed.

Are there new presets using the new micing features?

OK that's cool - got it.

Nice update - pity there isn't a phaser in the fx yet (for the Clav/EP)

Yep, indeed, some. But not all. Best swap presets with the mic page open to see which ones are using different mics.

Registered PT 4 Stage on 23/06/2013, so just installed PT 5. :)

Can someone confirm please? I already have Stage with D4, so if K2 is included with the base v5 upgrade it wouldn't make sense for me to pick flavour 1 (D4 and K2).

Thanks in advance,
G

Anything you already have, you keep... you just get newer versions.

K2 is a replacement for K1, which you already have in v4 ( i think) - so you get K2.
(i think its only available as a paid add-on, because now if were buying pianoteq 'new' today, you get to choose 2 pianos, so you may not have chosen it on original purchase)
you can download K1, if you want, but K2 is much nicer :)

Also, I thought D4 also came with PT4 (all versions), so again, your just getting the upgraded model

Awesome...thanks!
