PCMCIA controller chip / trouble with Indigo I/O

Hello,

I received my Indigo I/O yesterday, but have had no luck installing it

The driver is installed properly, the card is recognized OK, the blue led lights up, yet all sound I get is noise.

I already tried to update all other drivers, etc.
I also installed a w2k (the main partition is XP Home) partition to try if I had better luck there, but I had the same result.

I tested the card in my wife's old laptop, and there it works (but it's a celeron, otherwise I would have swapped with her )

So I finally started to suspect the pcmcia controller itself, since it seems to be a cheap pcmcia/smartcard reader joint controller. It's a "ENE CB710 Cardbus/MediaReader Controller".

My question here is actually, do any of you lucky users of the Indigo actually have this chipset too ?

For the record, Echo' support helped me solve the problem.

There indeed seems to be a problem with ENE cardbus chipsets, so Echo made a small tool to change some of the settings of the (cardbus) driver.

It works fine now !

I'm not sure what chipset I have, but mine won't install either. Everytime I plug it in, my computer freezes or it won't recognize any new hardware. What did you do to fix it?

Basically, I just contacted Echo's tech support.

You should be able to identify your pcmcia chipset through the device manager. Give that info to the tech support and I have no doubt they'll be able to help you.

After a whole lot of tech support, we came to the conclusion that it was just a defective card. I sent it back to echo and they sent me a replacement. The new one works great!
