David Guetta. That's who I thought that they were mocking anyway. They've even got some of the mannerisms nailed down. I thought it was great until the end when they're killing people with bass. I'm not offended, I just thought that it wasn't funny enough beyond that point. In fact, I was going to post it but didn't because it needed more funny, I've got standards, heh!kritikon wrote:

Seems like the joke was only halfway thought through before being shot.
The "literally mind blown" people reminded me a lot of Tenacious D "Master Exploder":
I noticed the real DJs vs Fake DJs thing is resonating a lot recently.
Even CDM posted on FB the sketch from Russel Peters.
Although I was never very fond of DJing, I do not feel so good about that trend because I generally believe art is not just about technical skills and most of those jokes are taking that angle to mock the DJs.
The good old "Picasso ? my kid could paint the same stuff !" cliché.
For example Russel Peters take Hip Hop scratching as an exemple of "Real DJing".
To me turntablism at some point is the modern equivalent of Satriani like guitar shreds : kind of kitsch in terms of aestetics. "Look son how fast that guy can shredd/spin, that is real music!".
I heard a designer I know actually involved in the DJ scene once claiming that photography was too easy because you just have to press a button. I almost choked.
I mean to me one side of DJing is similar to painting = needs technical skills;
but another part is about selection and timing, aka the right track at the right time, which is then comparable to photography to me. Only pushing a button in the end but takes time to get to a point to know when and where to press it so to say.
Add to that the "it is bad because it is maintstream" shortcut which made me overlook Nirvana when i was a teenager and did not want to listen to what everyone around was listening to.
But I admit i digress a bit off topic. as for David Guetta and Bob Sinclar and although I am French i won't argue they are as bad as it gets...
