Sample Logic announces ARPOLOGY

I understand that quite a few see it as an issue where SL needs to step up to the plate. If I were in your shoes I might feel the same way. I'm not. An as an observer it just struck me that as far as SL was concerned there never was a possibility of either of those products being authorized to sell for 90% off and be legit. The transaction with MF/GC was unauthorized and possibly a breach of contract. If that is true then it seems that the only proper recourse is to have a full refund from MF/GC. I don't see where any other damage has been done since bad intent cannot be proven at this point. If SL hands out the serials then good for them.
And not to leave it there... I do appreciate you explaining your point of view. I'm not taking SL's side or GC's side. And since I don't have a horse in this race I will retire from this thread lest someone think I have an agenda.

I appreciate the last two comments and believe them to be fair.
No buts from me.
MF/GC hasn't been a 'first store to shop at' for a very long time with me and it is usually only these 'stupid deals' that get me to take a chance with them. Concerning the 'breach of contract' aspect though I would say it would have to have been across the board for SL to hold to that. However, some serials worked, while many did not. So that whole argument becomes null and void. Add the fact of the other product has appeared to have no problems in registration to completely put that to rest.
So in any event, between a company I knew nothing of in the beginning and a company that rarely gets my business anyway, I have to side with the one that jumped into action as soon as they learned there was a problem. While the other did not.
Last month I ran though an inventory of software on my drive, including making a list of those that are definitely good or even great products, regardless of price. Relating to if the company itself was worth dealing with. I came up with four candidates. Simply no longer worth the energy of expecting them to do the right thing unless they feel forced to. And the worst of these are those whose first action always seems to be to ignore it as long as possible.
And I feel I've wasted enough time on these threads myself, so I'll retire from this part of it also.

It's truly remarkable how many KVR members are disappointed with Sample Logic products...
I got some of their libs, I use them rarely, I only like some patches/multis and do not wish to loose a lot of time to tweak the others to my taste.
It's totally my fault yet, this must be said, since I bought these libs myself...
So, listen carefully for the demos, before you buy.
Overpriced, is the word I find everywhere about Sample Logic's stuff, and I think it's fair and right.
About Arpology, I think they should make a much bigger effort with the demos, because I did not hear anything that could not be found/done already in synths like Alchemy (for a fair price, by the way).
I'd like to mention Thor too, actually very much sounding like Arpology's demos.

Wow! Thor? That's hitting below the belt! You could probably talk crap about the guys mother and it wouldn't hurt as much as that statement! I'm pretty sure a lot more effort and creativity went into this library than that. I'm not the biggest fan of Sample Logic after this whole fiasco but I would never in a million years make a statement like that. I could honestly say that their products are of the highest quality and probably 50,000,000 times better sounding than "Thor Synthesizer".matteogk wrote:I'd like to mention Thor too, actually very much sounding like Arpology's demos.

So let me get this comedy of errors straight:
1.) GC/MF violated agreements with SL, and therefore sales of the product at blowout prices were "unauthorized" sales?
2.) Somebody at GC/MF fulfillment house just so happened to open boxes of these very same "unauthorized" copies, copied down a bunch of serials, then sold the serials, thereby making the serials themselves bogus?
What a coincidence! Something doesn't add up here. I've purchased many a boxed and digital product from legit online retailers, and have never had any issue with serials being legit. Nor have I ever seen any news stories or forum threads about hundreds or thousands of "bad serials" being shipped from a place like GC or MF. Not saying it couldn't happen, I'm just saying this would be the first time I've heard of it. In fact, I always did think those GC guys had shifty eyes. Is it possible that the "unauthorized" serials were actually known and blacklisted? Not trying to cast aspersions here, I just think the whole thing sounds fishy all the way around, and if I were a customer I'd be right pissed at all parties involved...
You need to limit that rez, bro.

I would buy sample logic stuff but it's too pricey. I am not worried about serials or whatever.

Hey Orbit-50,
I meant I did not like the demos... very much conventional arps sounding in there. They are not enough to make me wish to spend so much money on this product.
I'll wait for honestly surprising "naked ones" to appreciate if Arpology has something new to offer or not. At the moment I did not get so surprised, and for the same "reason" I did not buy Thor as well...

I appreciate that Joseph posted a lengthy and detailed explanation and that in the end he decided to do the right thing by making sure that those of us who purchased Fanfare will now be getting a working copy.
Yes, it took time for Sample logic to resolve the issue in this way but what matters more to me is that Sample logic is now doing the right thing. I think that Sample logic learned from this experience and I do now believe that this company does care about it's customers.
I believe in second chances, and I am really happy that I will now get this product that I was really looking forward to own.

They did however get as many people as possible to return their software before doing this though.
So they could minimize doing the 'right thing' for as few customers they could.
I wanted the product too. But it seems by following their direction, I may have been cut out of getting it now?
Still feels perfidious on their part.

Besides all that, the last time that I checked, Thor doesn't have 8 XLR imputs so that I can connect up all of my high end balanced studio hardware either. If that's not groundbreaking enough for you, check out those half inch phone plugs, talk about robust, you're never going to wear those bad boys out.Orbit-50 wrote:Wow! Thor? Not sure what you mean. They appear to be giving a digital download link and new serial number so that should sort all of us outBBFG# wrote:They did however get as many people as possible to return their software before doing this though.

If that's so I will definitely change my position.pheeleep wrote:Not sure what you mean. Still feels perfidious on their part.I returned the physical discs a long time ago myself.
So you got a refund, a store credit and the product?

It appears to be the case but haven't received a reply yet (I emailed them over the weekend). However, I will gladly pay the $29 directly to Sample Logic if necessary. That would still be fair in my book.
Also, I do not plan on using the MF credit if I get Fanfare through Sample Logic. That just wouldn't feel right...
