How would I wear a portable recorder that isn't fit to be put in a bag?

Hey!
I am looking at getting a NTG-2, a pre amp, and a Tascam DR-100 MKII. My only reserve is how I would store the Tascam as I am walking trails and around places.
I want to get the MKII because I will also be sampling with the internal mics when I can't use all my gear.
How do I carry it? There are no handles or keyholes or anything ...

Maybe this will help:

Not sure if you are in USA and not sure if they ship overseas.
A bit expensive in my mind but maybe it will give you some ideas too.

The promo blurb on Tascam website says "High end recording in the palm of your hand"LimboLoves wrote:Tascam DR-100 MKII
If it is that small can't you put it in your backpack when you are not recording with it?
Dimensions: 3.15(W)×6.024(H)×1.378(D) inch (80(W)×153(H)×35(D) mm)
Weight (without batteries): 0.64lb (290g)
With that kind of small size, getting a regular bum bag would maybe be the best option.

Most handheld portable recorders fit easily in a camera bag.
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Do I look like a savage beast? In all seriousness, that's what I will end up doing, except with a laptop bag.deastman wrote:Why can't you just throw it in a backpack?

The H4n comes with a plastic box which adds protection to those fragile microphone capsules. Mine lives in this box inside a lowa belt bag, which also contains its windshield. Granted, it's a bit fumbly to prepare for a recording, but it feels safe enough for hauling it around (even inside a huge backpack with whatever harsh and clunky may travel along with it, e.g. a tripod).
The Tascam seems to come with a soft bag and should be built more robust anyway.

I have both a DR-100 and an H4N. They sound about the same to me.
I usually transport gear in my Timbuk2 Snoop camera messenger bag. That way I just look like all the other assholes in San Francisco with their messenger bags, instead of someone walking around with $10K of camera gear. I use it for all kinds of other stuff too- laptop, ipad, H4N, Minibrute, Blofeld, Volcas... its a great bag with excellent modular padding.

Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

lol, make sure you put a sound devices sticker on your bag so you can fit in with all the audio snobs. I think the H4N is ok if you are using external mics. Both the H4N and Tascam use electrer condensers, but the H4N had a lot more background noise when I compared the two.
