This is a very theoretical app (the manual is a bit ot in that respect too) but I like the attitude and with some extra work the results are rewarding enough to get into it, a good addition to the granular, experimental tool box.
Thanks, I'll try that. :D

I love the 'math purist' approach of this tool. It seems as much a math playground as a music playground, but the UI makes it very accessible.

I'll have to get specifics on the DRM from the dev. The EULA in the demo doesn't mention anything about how many installs are allowed and how that is verified. I wish devs would be more up front about this stuff. It's highly relevant, and more so with smaller developers, because you never know how long they will be answering their mail.

Here is another track made with Cosmos:

Love this Cosmos Demo track Simon. Now I'll have another look at the APP.
waves break, but somehow it all makes sense.

Thanks Simon for sharing the audio examples. Cool stuff, but I don't hear anything mind-blowing in term for granular sonic territories. Pretty sure these could all be done with some of my Reaktor ensembles... But thanks for your time.

A quick and dirty vid with some more Cosmos experiments:

Jesus this thing is crazy, here is an experiment processing a recording I made during a tuna auction in Tokyo, now that I've read the manual fully I now my way around :) But it crashes sometimes as you can see at the end of the vid. I'm in contact with the dev, nice guy as it seems.

Hmmm it really seems it's using some kind of doppler effect, like the one in the GRM Tools Classic bundle.

That's the pan modulation, up tp 8 different modulations at once applied to the different grains....or any other parameter - up to 81 events at once, up to 60 seconds per event - quite complex...

I just bought it as an Xmas present to myself. Anyone know where the presets are kept on Mac? I can find the aupresets but not the ones in native crx format to use with the VST version.

Post

I just tried the demo to Cosmosƒ and liked what I saw. So I bought it and now I'm getting the hang of it.

This will take a while to get my head around.

I'll post followups on the COSMOS-F topic at

I tried Crusher-X a while back and for whatever reason, I could not get into it.

Both of these are very idiosyncratic.

i'm a big granular fan and I tried/have most of existing tools and
I must say - starting with now ( crusherX-Studio! 5.2 on PC and crusherX-Mac! 64bit ) you should get it!
there is NOTHING like it. just try the new demo. it doesnt have nasty nags and nasty limitations.

today I just did this (with the demo):

and I will post more tests/snippets next days!

I also tried COSMOSf even the new Sirius one. it's not bad but comparing to Crusher-X is very limited. and unstable ...

CrusherX certainly is the most advanced granulator available today.

I just wish there was a decent manual for it, even basic stuff like how to save a patch or where they are located so you can load them are not covered in the extremely rudimentary online help.

_yet another mild experiment with crusherX-Studio! 5.2:
abused dub synth part (playing with delay/feedback/dirt/morph)
(input was a clean synth line)

I use import/export. patches could be anywhere on hdd.

In case anyone needs some basic insight into granular synthesis, here is a playlist with tutorials I made a while ago to support an article I wrote about this topic.
