whats the difference? opteron question

between a 1 way and a 2way opteron chip? except that that the 2way is twice as expensive?

The 1xx are for single processor systems, the 2xx chips are for dual processor systems. If your not building a dual processor system (and using a dual processor motherboard) there is no reason to use a 2xx chip. The 8xx chips are for quad processor systems.
My new dual 250 is very speedy. It's got major CPU tempature problems though, but every soft synth that was killing my old dual PIII 866 runs like a charm.

since I am about to buy an Opteron System myself, I was wondering if you mind sharing the specs on your machine? You said that you are having problems with the CPU temp, do you know what's causing it? Thanks
