So the workaround is to go to the file system, rename the .rcPHRS file and edit it in a text editor, setting the name and group values in the file as appropriate.

Hi tolstoevsky!
thank you for your kind comment
About the issue with the Fingerpicking generator, I could not reproduce the bug that you mentioned with complex chords. Will you please send me a composition file with a wrongly generated phrase? You can send it to the info@m...s.com address. This way I could check how it was created.
Thank you!

And yet another request: could you rework or change something in your Phrase lists choosers schemes in order that, e.g., I could quickly (=in 2-3 seconds
+ similar annoying procedure with Instruments lists: I have more than 100 different SFonts added and when I try to use VSTs instead of them, it's very unpleasant thing to scroll down till I could find those VSTs on the very bottom...Sure, I could use "Instruments chooser button" instead, but still I can't quite understand how to easily sort there VSTs from SFs etc. BTW, you made helluva lot of different "filtering methods" there but 90% of them are rather useless or of little use IMHO
Anyway, it's just a sort of "old man's grunting"

I +1 this request. There has to be a better way of getting through the browser.
Thank goodness I don't have thousands of phrases saved yet but with hundreds it is still problematic. A work flow killer.
I'm wondering the prospects of a Windows style browser?
Could it be at least possible that the current browser opens with all folders closed? That way we can then scroll the list and select the folder we need to open to find the phrase or progression or etc.
Thanks Attila!
Happy Musiking!

PS -should this request be moved to FR's?

It occurred to me, this issue of not being able to move a phrase - I have sometimes experienced this when the track is not high enough. In other words, the phrase gets dropped onto octave (C-7 (sometimes even higher)) and the track is set to see one octave height.tolstoevsky wrote:.....P.S. Bang, I also just brought to my mind another old annoying thing, which I forgot to mention much earlier:
when I use some "tricky" chords in Fingerpicking Generator (not simple ones but something like m7b9 and so on), very often it produces weirdest looking lines in highest octaves (e.g. C7 and higher) and refuses to pull it down in editor (something just blocks it).
Could you check also this strange behaviour and look for possible solution?
Try to expand the track to see if you are able to move the phrase up/down then.
As for why RC tends to drop a phrase into octaves above C-3 to C-6 is something I have wondered often. I tend to compose more to the dark side so having notes above C-5 is rare for me.
I'd like to be able to default the drop of a phrase below C-6 as the movement to a location will the be within an octave or two.

Inconsistent/odd behavior when 'clearing Variations from selection'
Win XP
Rapid Composer 2.7b6
(1) The first, initial selection and generation of a variation seems to always work properly, and as expected. ( i.e., VARIATION: spread out, (or) swap chord notes, (or) permute , or ....)
(2) any subsequent use of the 'clear variations from selections' only half the time produces a clean reversal and variation clearing. Either the clearing does not clear the initially selected phrase, OR many times it does not only not clear the selected phrase, but some other phrase . . in some other track, which was NEVER even selected will suddenly have its phrases altered (Varied) with what ever type/class of variation I am working with ??? ( these erratic variations are being applied to phrases which were NEVER selected, are on the same track or most often on different tracks ???)
Really odd, sorta independent behavior ... randomly , some phrases clear, some other 'un- selected' phrases will then independently become varied, . . . interesting , but ... kinda like trying to get a group of cats to march in a straight line .

Hi Attila,
found some issues that are maybe bugs, unless I don't understand the behaviour correctly.
The "Connection to next phrase"-option is a cool feature for the Bass Generator, but I would say that the connecting notes have to be an octave higher, don't they?

Editing the notes manually and trying to adjust the velocity for the piano track in this example I found a strange behaviour: I have set the velocity for all notes with the line tool to more or less the same value, but I can not hear the changes and as soon as I am changing the height of the velocity track, all the velocities are jumping back to their previous values. This only seems to happen when using the line tool, with other tools it's ok.

Regarding velocities I also have a random issue which appears now and then, but only in note editing mode and not in phrase editing mode: sometimes the velocities are dropping extremely so that the sound can only hardly be heard, this normally happens at the beginning of a repitition when it's running looped or when I start the playback manually from the beginning more than once. Can you please check, if you can reproduce this? It happens with the build in soundfonts and with VSTi's.
In this example I've defined scales per bar, but I can not change them independently. In this case, changing the scale for bar 3 automatically changes the scales for bar 1, 5 and 7 to the same scale I am currently defining for bar 3 (pictures only show the first 5 bars).

Greetings from Germany

hi Max - just to be of further help here; Attila will no doubt ask for the O/S and your version of RapidComposer you are seeing these 'issues' with...
(unless he knows of you already of course..!)
just saying.

Yeah, Bob, you are right.
Although it's not my first post here, I can not expect Attila to remember all the system specs of everybody
So, this happens with the latest beta (2.7b6, 64-bit) running under Windows 7.
Thanks for the hint

Yes, the browsers will be redesigned for v2.8 with advanced filtering and searching capabilities.Could it be at least possible that the current browser opens with all folders closed
I'll check this too. Thanks atonal for reporting it!Inconsistent/odd behavior when 'clearing Variations from selection'
