Firewire 410, d2 hard drive, and a powerbook 15 inch

Hey, I just got a 1.5 ghz powerbook and a firewire 800 d2 extreme hard drive and I have a firewire 410 sound card on the way. I've heard of people having trouble with this soundcard when they have a hard drive hooked up, but most of them only are using the firewire 400 port to connect their hard drive. Is the firewire 800 on a different port? Has anybody gotten this system to work? I'm crossing my fingers here... but hopefully.... All will work out!
