My take is that Eventide probably is in extreme circumstances. They have probably realized that their future in the hardware business is not so bright anymore. But they have probably also realized that their future in the software business is not too bright either.

They had a sale recently, and my guess is, that this was not a big success. Simply because what they offer is not that compelling at all. Their stuff needs the stupid PACE/iLok and their current plugins are lacking in many ways in comparison to competition. Blackhole is easily replaced with Valhalla Shimmer and STW Reflex, H3000 Factory is old and fiddly. Even discounted they are not something that make you scream out of excitement like a little girl.

So they need some exposure and giving away the UltraChannel is a good way to do it. It's basically another channel strip with EQ and Compressor so I guess it would not sell like hotcakes anyway. But it is a good way to show a bit of Eventide's pitch shift and delay algorithms to lure people into taking a look at their more interesting plugins from Anthology II as they become available in native format later. Also by giving a way such a big full-featured plugin they will generate a lot of buzz.
That's really bold guess. As i said they could easily sell these for 49$ and people would buy it. At least some of them would.

But anyway you have to realize that they have leading product which was released years and years ago and still selling for more then 3000EUR new. Add to that that they did not had to do any kind of new R&D for it since release so it is practically generating nothing but pure income.

To this date there is no single replacement of decade old Eventide H3000 let alone horsepower H8000FW - go figure

And add to this that there is a world out of KVR where musicians want tools to use in studio and live where computer doesn't have it's own place..

I think too much of people generating their guess here have pretty narrow standpoint which often comes from plugin world. Nothing wrong with it but there is really big big world out of this KVR place.

I feel really stupid right now. Or blind. Where is the download link for the software itself? I've now got myself an iLok account, the license manager installed and even the license is activated on this computer. Where's the plugin now?

Looks interesting though. I've liked the idea of having complete channel strips but I'm always bugged about having strict routing. This appears to be able to change the routing, so looking forward to testing this..

How long it takes to receive the email with the links to download the plugin?

i made everything as procedure, registered an free ilok account, i used the code and entered my account
details on the website, it was suposed to have it in my mailbox, but no... nothing
even in the spamm box, they didnt sent me anything...

tryed to contact them for the support asking if it was anything wrong, and no reply so far...

can someone please share me an 64 bit windows vst installer?

I received the license a few hours ago but still don't have any dl links either. Gonna wait it out a little longer, mainly because I'm lazy. :)

iLok license manager? Sorry I'll pass. PACE will manage to screw up my system even without dongle I believe.

Post

I'm waiting for download link too :(

so what could be the plan behind this marketing move ?

maybe they want to sell a version 2 upgrade ?

how old is this chanelstrip ? can it compete with todays standarts ? i m too lazy any feedback about it ?

i ve once tested the h3000 plugin while the quality was good the price was just 2 much..

Making reaper hang for me on plugin scan. Doesn't hang when I scan again. Not sure whether to commit to using this...

I got the email within minutes of the license activation. The email contained the download links.

Observation in FLS: when using it as a 64bit plugin any parameter change causes a stop of the sequencer/song play. Quite interesting bug. :ud:

32bit runs okay and smooth. Reaper dito. :)

I got mine from the protools expert site. I think there is a post in the bargains thread at the market place that has one too.

The delay module seems to be buggy. Sometimes the delay length section works, sometimes it doesn't. Tried it with all different combinations of tempo sync (which doesn't seem to be working either). Can't put my finger on anything other than randomness in it's operation. This is in reaper btw.
