That's probably it. The plugin depends on the dsp dll from program files so I believe the /Amaranth Audio/Cycle folder as well as ipp_cyc.dll needs to be user-owned for it to work with UAC. Will check it out.wasi wrote:On second thought, also check the permissions in /Program Files (x86)/Amaranth Audio/Cycle/ and the excutable (Cycle.exe) too. The .dll points there and even if you have permissions for the dll, /%Program Files/ requires admin by default so every VST that has a dll that only points to an executable (more and more, these days) you have to fiddle with the core executable's permissions too.
Did I mention UAC hell?

Ah, the 'Velcro' plants! Nice ones!. .DavenH wrote: Sort of...I was helping my dad dispatch burdocks and collect boulders for a rock garden most of yesterday.
Interesting! Did you seek the boulders 'in the wild'?
Thanks for your reply. When everything's working smoothly I'm surely considering buying Cycle! .

a player version would spread excitement and create more demand. Players are like giving the guys around these parts free drugs. You know they are addicted and will not be able to resist if you give them a little taste.

I think a player version of this could be counter productive, this is not a synth you buy for its presets, so if anything it could give a false impression of its power.

Agree. This is a really unique, and fascinating "tool". Though I can appreciate the request, the demo offers potentially interested parties, the opportunity to "play" with the real deal. I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

Hello dev ... where are you ... ?
Just manually set the permissions and be done with it. You probably don't need admin rights, you just need read/write access.

The 'official' forum has seen no action in weeks!
I tried everything but nothing worked!! Can't load the plugin in host without Admin rights!!
I very much like to buy it but UAC issue must be resolved!

Yes. Applications should put their data into %appdata% not somehwere under %programfiles%. But you can make cycle run if you set the rights of the folder for your user. But clearly an application should not need those rights in your vst-plugin directory. I wouldn't by it in it's current state either.

Just use another folder, %program files% is generally a bad choice unless you have UAC off or run as admin. That's just the way it is. It may not even be an installer issue, from my observations, UAC issues can just as well pop up at random (or persist despite having done all the right things to solve them).

I have yet to the a UAC related problem that is not actually a problem of badly written programs that try to use folders they aren't supposed to use. %appdata% is there for a reason.
