that's odd on my mac running Logic 9 on lion
the ilok isn't running and everything is fine

whoops spoke too soon


every-time i turn on my Mac and launch Logic 9 it says ultra-channel cannot be used

So i have to launch ilok but when i do I get this


I have to re-install "ilok licenses manager" in order for the app to work

so when i do i have my licenses no problem ( I dont have to re-activate)

and then and only then can i use ultra channel

Has anyone got a Solution to this on the Mac side ?

Im using Logic 9 on OS-X lion

Would getting an actual ilok dongle help with this problem ?

Jan, specifically, what are the CURRENT problems you can demonstrate with the iLok drivers on Windows?

Pace created illegal doubled licenses for many users, a year ago.
Some stupid guys decide to sell them.
Pace eagerly transfered these illegal licenses ant took 25$ for each transfer.
The buyers where sure, they had made a legal purchase.
Now Pace decided to clean up and deactivated all those licenses.
Sure enough they won't refund the 25$ ...
Sure enough they also deactivated legal licenses by accident.

iLok is not for me, thanks. This free plugin is not enough inducement for me to risk compromising my stable daw and various other associated plugins.

I do believe this has been a very informative discussion. There is plenty of grist in the mill here for Eventide and iLok to chew on. iLok doesn't appear to be very forthcoming with its known incompatabilities.

It does'nt entrench itself in your computer after does it?

there is a document with ilok that tells you how to uninstall. I did it once on my last computer and it was fine, no traces left over. FWIW: PACE/ilok has caused absolutely no problems on my computer or any of my old computers. don't want to say that people are blowing things out of proportion, but maybe it's a PC thing.

Well, it depends.
If you've just started to use Pace, You may very well be able to get rid of it.
But it surely is not just hitting 'uninstall'.

It can be a nightmare, if You have used many of it's incarnations for years.
Residues from older installs can cause all sorts of problems,
like not being able to install the current version.

... and no, it's not a just PC thing.
The recent disaster shut down many Mac based studios.
ProTools11 on Mac was not usable for some days.

And yes, everyone can decide, whether he wants to risk using Pace.
To make an educated decision, he needs to know the facts.
Otherwise, he will be caught off guard, when all Pace plugins stop working, with the next disaster.
If You depend on these plugins for your daily work, it's mandatory to make complete system backups,
before touching anything Pace !
( Though, that will not help, if your iLok breaks and You may be without your plugins for weeks
or have to pay 100+$ to get them back, fast )

sorry you have had bad luck. i personally have had no problems, and I have plugins that I still use that were purchased before my daughter was born (she's 7 now). I have also changed computers 3 times in that period. maybe i'm just lucky; must be my rugged good looks.

This is not at all about me.
Pace disasters are affecting countless users since 15+ years.
Hundreds if not thousands couldn't use their plugins nor buy or sell plugins,
for 1-3 weeks, with the latest bigger disaster in 2013.

And again.
Positives are not relevant, if the negative numbers are way above average.

Jan, you've cited problems using plug-ins, buying used plug-ins, Pace being jerks, etc.

In what way does this make using Pace to run a free product a huge issue? If people want to use this plug-in they have to remain aware the license may crap out at some time. No need for big, ominous warnings of impending disaster.

I can't even get the Pace software to run on my machine but that may be because I'm using a 10+ year old OS.

Pace/iLok = + OK!! WE GOT IT!!

I just spent a couple of hours with that thing.

It takes about 1.4% CPU per instance on an i7 4770 OSX build, which is huge!
And it's a bit sad that you can't have both high/low cuts AND high/low shelves at the same time.
Although the GUI isn't really "2014", it's still better than RenChannel or my other all-time fav, the Metric Halo Channel.

But apart from that ... wow. I haven't checked if the EQ will null against ReaEQ (to see if it's purely digital or if it does something magic), but that baby Omnipressor really smashes the living s#!t out of drums. Lotsa fun!

Yeah the comps are both awesome. Lovely to work with - very weighty sounding. I'm going to do some testing with the eq in the next day or two - see if it's adding any mojo.

I agree. I would not have installed iLok without a dongle just for this plugin. If you aren't going to use a dongle, I don't see the point of iLok. You're compounding the problems of C/R with another driver and getting none of the benefits.

To me, the big benefit of dongle systems is the ability to move them from one computer to another and to be able to reinstall everything without having to worry about how many installs that I have remaining. For that kind of freedom, there's a cost, knowwhatimsayin?

If you want to be free, you gotta take the D(ongle).
