Yep, I was to start with.

I read about the new version ms2005dl and thought I'd buy it and now I have. But no its not completly new, its a free upgrade for the ms2004dl edition. Its a 25mb download and still calls itself ms2004dl!
So if you have the 2004dl edition, grab the update. You will need to register your 2004 copy though.

First impressions of the midi studio are very good. The new fm synth is also good, some nice sounds.
Instrument track count now at 12! The automation is a bit dissapointing, as you can only automate sends and there are still only four efects and with 3 inserts each. The hyperdraw automation is better as you can now enter a cc value or use the usual stuff, volume, pan, breath etc

The new synths with the audio studio are great. Robota, a drum thingy, Silver synth a step sequencer that sounds like a 303? and a drum n base thingy that I have been having fun with. But, its a great pity you cant use them also in the midi studio.

Not had time to get to grips with it all yet, but to me it was a wise choice.

Now I shall have more fun! :D
Hope that may help some of you :)
Anybody want my old 2003dl edition. Original boxed and with manual. pm me.

Forgot to mention. My track on the kvr-mcr cd was done on 2003dl.

[...] There is a demo on the german Magix website (called MS 2004 but it´s the same as the english 2005 version).
Does anyone know where can I download a demo of Magix Music Studio 2004/2005? I've visited the german site but there is only Magix Music Maker 2004.

Question for you Music Studio users...

I was wondering if Audio studio actually does import 24 bit files *without* changing the bit rate to 16 bits.It promises import of 24 and even 32 bit files but sometimes with cut down versions you do not always get what is promised.

I want to be able to dither a 24 bit file in Audio studio using Ozone...than export to 16 bits.

What are your experiences with bit rates in Audio Studio?

If I use ASIO then I get a "24bit playback message" in the bottom right corner of the screen, but how can I check if the file has not been truncated to 16 bits? Any ideas?

I also I get a *resample* sign on a waveform that I import into Audio Studio wether its a 24 bit file or not, I assume this points to a change in the bit or sample rate of the file...?

I have tried getting answers to this before please help... :help:

I just want to dither a 24 bit file in Audio Studio down to 16 bits from 24 bits. How can I change the bit rate in Audio Studio to 24 bits?

Cant say that I have come across a demo.

The english site is where you can get the free upgrade for 2004 but it don't mention about a new 2005 version. The german site just has the new version on. Strange indeed!

Robota, silver synth and the drum n bass synths are internal synths and not vst. A vst wrapper comes with audio studio as well.

However you can sync to midi? so I could try it that way.

Not sure about the 24 bit import though. I only use 16 bit.

I understood that 2004 was 24 (/32) bit already.

It will import a 24 bit file but finding any sort of indication as to wether the file is still 24 bit or not is the problem I have been having.

I would like to know if anyone knows how to set the bit depth 16/24 in Music Studio as this setting seems to be missing or simply not included. Maybe a deliberate move by Magix as Music studio is a cut down product?

well, I am pretty sure all audio is treated as 32-bit float internally, which is the standard for pretty much every audio app these days. So when you import a 24 bit file it should get expanded to 32-bit float. So what you're trying to do, shouldn't be a problem. I think where Audio Studio is really crippled is in its sample rate support (max 48khz) and its recording abilities (only 16 bit). I guess this is simply to distinguish it from the far more expensive Samplitude line. Still if you can live with the 48k limitation and don't need it for recording it's a damn good wave-editor and mastering tool for the money.

my 2 cents,

Niko
