What is R4? I couldn't find a VST called R3.
Windows 11/Linux Manjaro KDE + Waveform 11.

This is why you really need to try them for your self. I've used Fender amps for over 30 years and love Amplitube Fender. I hate Peavey Revalver. I'd give it away if they allowed transfers. Everyone seems to agree that S-gear is very good. It's also one of the cheapest options discussed.jsljustin wrote:If anyone is still reading this thread, I thought I'd offer my opinions on the best guitar amp sims.
I have a $5000 fender custom shop amp, so I normally don't have a need for a sim, but there are times when I want to lay down a solo or track but it is late at night - it is those times I can/do use an amp sim.
Personally I tried amplitude, and I don't see what all the fuss is about. Their fender models aren't even close, and I have owned many expensive fender amps from twins through to what I currently have.
The two best sims available today are S-gear (scuffham amps) and Peavey's Revalver Mk 3 / Mk 3.5.
In my humble opinion as a long time professional guitarist, these two sims are the closest to sounding like a real amp that I have used. All other amp sims sound like effects / eq / plugins laid upon the top of my DI guitar signal.
If you are a serious player then you should be able to hear the difference, and Revalver and S-gear are good enough to be used as a replacement for the real thing when necessary. All other sims fall short (and sometimes way short). Perhaps the only other sims that are ok are the ones by kuassa.
Hope that helps.

Dimi proves it's not necessarily the amp sim, but, what you put into the amp sim.
I re installed waves GTR3. I'm getting good results with GTR 3 and prominy vmetal
sample library. Also the GTR 3 direct box makes a big Difference on real guitar too.

YES!!! This is one of my all-time favs that I own and imo one of the few amp sims imo that both responds well to your playing style and sounds like an actual amp on its own. The Engl Richard Blackmore has all the character of the E650 head and the tone... it has the juice and life that real amps have and most amp sims lack. Splendid I must say.Kaboom75 wrote:Amplitube ENGL Richard Blackmore is my go to.

He uses like, everything! He just released a new album btw. Uses Guitar Rig, Amplitube and Overloud.bill45 wrote:Dimi proves it's not necessarily the amp sim, but, what you put into the amp sim.

Honestly, if you're just after a heavy metal sound, Emissary (free) is certainly worth a try.
Other things I've found useful: GreenMachine (free), Rammfire, Plug n Mix California Tone, CM Guitar Suite (which is identical to the free SimulAnalog Guitar Suite except it has one more very heavy amp sim- can't recall what it's modeled after though).

Hi everyone,
Well, I was just introduced to these superb free plugins on another thread, and I must say I'm quite impressed with them.
http://mercuriall.iks.ru/cms/
Do yourself a favor and try Mercuriall JCM800 HotPreamp followed by Mercuriall Cab. Rest assured, you wont regret.
Particularly, the cabinet simulator is simply outstanding. I'm not kidding here. It feels very very close to the real deal, mostly because the developer has managed to capture the true dynamics of a real cabinet. I mean, it's not just an impulse loader like other cabinet simulators. It behaves dynamically. In my opinion, there's no better cabinet simulator/loader out there.
To be totally honest with you, in my opinion, the quality of tones you can get from LePou, Ignite and Mercuriall plugins is superior if compared to their commercial peers, except for S-Gear (which is worth every penny).
Again, just to reinforce the concept: Go and test Mercuriall's stuff, specially Mercuriall Cab.
The only downside is that you also have to download a 200Mb impulse library and their server is very very slow. However, you can download it from this alternative link, which is much faster: http://hulkfile.eu/ww54p711boj6.html

+1! Even if I could retire now and spend the next 25 years playing, I don't think I could get to this level .hibidy wrote:That's it.........I quit!zabukowski wrote:S-Gear Custom '57 in action
