Hi all

Heres a song I did a while ago, and the M42 nebula VSTi is inspired by this ARP Odyessy ( Oddity) patch which is basically the same patch that Klaus used on his piece Totem. This is my interpretation of it. Put on your head phones for this one!

Can you hear the resemblance to the RYM patches on M42?

very m-42-ish ...

not just the RYM patches ...
excepting the piano and bell parts , quite a bit of this piece could be reasonably reproduced w/ m-42 ...

i like the composition ...
a few listens reveal several layers that may escape notice at first ...

Very Nice tune Tim. I love the RYM patches in M-42, I in the process of learning mt new Alesis Ion with the hopes of getting a similer sound going in my programing which I am a novice at. Your patches in many of the vsti's (Crystal, M-42 and Texture and Motion) are my favorites and are an inspiration for me. This tune is great in that regard, very inspirational. Thanks for sharing. 8)

Hey thanks...the trick was to have the Gate of the LFO/ S&H trigger the envelopes for the amp and filter, with S&H modulating the filter at the same time. We installed GATE in the mod matrix of M42 which would allow this, thus the Totem sound in M42.

believe or not..this piece was produced on a Tascam 4 Track cassette! Dx7, Roland U20, my Yamaha CS5 analog,Prophet 2000 sampler ( does those vocal splats) Oddity demo( the Totem sound) and the EMS VS3 clone ( an SE one) doing the space mods in the background. All recorded to my 4 track, then transferred to Sound Forge.

However now I use Tracktion instead :-) But my cassette is still there...

I had to patch that patch by hand: there are NO presets on the demo ( or anywhere else for that matter) that does that patch! I just happened to remember how to do it becuase I used to work with a real ARP odysee! (back in college)

EDIT: the other trick is to use a SYNCED stereo delay, and thats part of the sound too! ( very much so!)I had to sync it by hand. ( just like Klaus:-)

Here is the patch when I did it in one of EFM's ODD-SEE synth ( SE) clone. Just copy the knobs and do it by hand onto Oddity. The main trick is the Auto switches on the envelope. You are NOT triggering them with the keyboard, but with the LFO clock(gate).

Then add delay,( effect) and sync up the tempo by hand. Most of all: HAVE FUN! It's a cool patch.

Very nicely done! :)
Heard the tape hiss in my phones before reading it`s tape!
Not a prob with this selection though.
Know the old tascam pretty well since a friend of mine bought one yrs ago.
You may know someone I know from school days,"Andrew Schlesinger".
He was one of,if not the sole writer of oddity.
Love this patch...hypnotic! 8)
