Right, so where's the Android phone with 160GB of storage and a battery that will stand up to playing music all day and still have enough for web surfing and GPS and telephone and and all the other things I need it to do?

This is what I hate about the mp3 player market these days. My current player is an iPod Classic that I bought used on eBay, because everybody seems to have stopped trying to store lots of music and just stream everything.

Anyway. My first player was a 128MB Creative Labs MuVo without a screen. After that I went Rio Carbon, then the original Zune, then a Zune 80 (which was stolen from me by a janitor), then a Zune 120, then a Cowon J3, then my current iPod Classic 160.

In terms of sound quality, I'd say Cowon > Zune > iPod > Rio > MuVo.

yes, it was awednesday afternoon in july. raining of course, also bought a sandwich from greggs, cheese and tomato.

Had a RioVolt, a disc/MP3 player. I thought it was pretty good.
Now my phone plays FLAC natively.

2008, iPod 80Gb. Still use it. It can also play standard definition pr0n which is a nice bonus.

Mine was a big Creative Zen (early noughties) ...looked a bit like an iplop. 20gig i think.... dunno what happened to it. I just use my S4 phone now (and S2 and S3 before that)

It won't be long until 160 GB of solid state disk space will be affordable. Regarding battery performance, the most energy expensive thing will always be the display. They did a whole lot to processor energy consumption though, it's very efficient already. Can't really do much about the battery, the Li-io technology is the state of the art, and will remain it. The only thing you can do is to try to make everything else more efficient, but there's not much you can do with the display lighting.

Never had one. I went from a Sony minidisc unit to a Tapwave Zodiac, and then to the first gen iPhone.

Do you remember when you bought your first dedicated mp3 player?
