the cello preset from Daniel's Morpheus (or was it BnB) doesn't sound the same at all. In 1.09 it was very rich and full. in 2.0 it sounds like certain frequency ranges are missing

I don't know whether this is an Orion Pro problem or a Rhino problem, but there is a vertical space of leftover screen from either Orion or Windows desktop along the right side of the Rhino interface. This did not happen in Rhino 1.09. If I minimize Rhino and then maximize it again, the entire Rhino interface is seen again.

Yep, the missing frequencies are very obvious on, e.g. Phils Prophet 5 from the DX7 bank.
I also get a crackling noise on the very first patch in the new factory bank (Harp Strings), even on very low volume (no clipping). Mostly around key D3.
Otherwise, it looks very promising. Hope you get these things sorted out before your well-deserved holiday.

Two other things:
- i'd like to have a visible grid in the matrix
- the preset librarian thingy seems to be very useful. But when i drag a patch over a super category (e.g. Bass), it would be nice if the subcategories become visible after a short while (2 seconds or so) or if i point the drag symbol over the little arrow

Hey BigTick,
First, thanks for all the hard work and for making the update free to current users. I VERY MUCH appreciate that.
Some feedback on the prerelease:
I, too, have noticed a slight change in the sound of version 2. hard to quanitify, but I could try harder if its helpful.
Also, I've also had some of the presets not work.
But the one thing that I am a bit concerned about is there seems to be a (sometimes considerable) up-tick (excuse the pun) in CPU usage.
Here is a sample of a fairly simple part, using 2 onstances. It sounds great! But even with this simply piece (single note solo and quite simple chords) CPU hit over 85%.
http://www.danieljslewis.com/Rhino2CPUtest.mp3
What's odd is that when I hit "stop" the CPU is still high, but if I mute than unmute on SX 2 the CPU, when it shows again, seem to be lower.
Still as gorgeous as ever, but when you can (effectively) only use one instance of Rhino on a P4 2.4 with a GIG of memory, that is getting perilously close to being a problem.
Cheers!

the reason why I didn't partake in the beta-testing was
because I wasn't sure if I would have enough time&energy for thoroughly testing it
- hello beta-testers, what's about you?

i also noticed the down with respect to volume level but i hold that it's a very good thing... now rhino sounds like the others and i don't need to lower the rhino's gain anymore...
cool !

Me too, changing from Vector 1 to Alaska. Strange. It was in FL Studio which almost never crashes on me.Wasn't a serious crash just closed FL and re-opened and on I went.Fette Töle wrote:Just got a serious exception when switching from the vector 1 to the alaska patch
I also noticed the drop in overall volume.I could always bring up the mixer volume but Rhino2 may have a hard time staying in the mix-haven't tried it with other instruments yet.
Anyway Rhino2 sounds brilliant. The included presets are works of art.Another fantastic upgrade.Thank you so much Big Tick you are a genius! Rhino 2 has to be considered one of the finest softsynths in the world and getting better all the time.Great work!
EDIT:Didn't realize one of my presets made into the default bank(woohoo!) I meant all the other patches are works of art.

thank you Tick - this update is so wonderful
- I had two ( for now random) crashes
- the sound seems to be subtlely softer and 'warmer' - in my book that's a good thing
(either way: we still have V1 if we need it
- the cpu-usage doesn't seem to be significantly higher to me
- the new functions are fantastic and the skin lovely
(although I have to admit that I haven't yet figured out how the library-system works
I noticed there will be three! new banks from Daniel:
BnB2, Textures and Legacy

First impression: excellent work!
But I cannot record slider movements into my FL Studio anymore like Rhino does in the same project! What do I wrong?
For the new preset/bank handling I recommend to make a backup of the rhino.db.

Micha,
Is that with "midi out" enabled, or not ?
Don't know if that's it, but automation only works if you've put your key file...

I think Legacy is the old demo bank, but I could be wrong. Also there appears to be an DX7 Bank2 and a Electroloops bank2.jens wrote: I noticed there will be three! new banks from Daniel:
