He committed the sins of having bad hair and you can actually listen to his music, so the glitterati have deemed him uncool.

way off topic, but:
"Talking about music is like dancing about architecture (Frank Zappa)"
I've seen dance pieces about architecture
architecture and dance isn't an unusual crossover in modern dance

I think as a DJ he is outstanding, mixing everything from acid to James Brown. Sadly as a recording artist he is quite formulaic and his last album was pretty disappointing IMO.

All the tracks sounds funky, maybe that's why some doesn't make the difference
I cannnot find anyone else so versatile and so enthusiastic about all kind of music. As a DJ he rox! "Live on Brighton" is the best party ever.
Maybe after the 10 pages of BT & 10 pages about defining good music you got old and tired
offtopic: dancing ABOUT architecture ? this must be quite a show

I think Norman Cook is a great producer, but someone like BT has adapted and reinvented himself more or less to new audiences(for better or for worse). I'm not a BT fan, but he's produced deephouse(worked with deepdish), Breaks, techno and now somewhat commercial stuff. Maybe that's got something to do with it.

I don't know if this is going to add anything or not: but his main sequencer is ATARI NOTATOR! I still have a copy for my 4 Meg Ste, and it works great. When it came out, it was the top of the line sequencer costing more then $500.00! There is now a web site devoted to Notator as well as a pretty big user grp
http://www.notator.org
I also have a Notator page on my site:

Just like Klaus Shulze used Notator for years, but only recently went to logic on Mac. He probably still has Notator however. He ran at least 90 MIDI channels at once!
