MIDI k/b - ideas for a cheapo mini PC MIDI k/b?

hi,
have this little Evolution minikey thing that connects to the joystick in,
seems a shame to just chuck it out, and it is unsellable (also has 2
wobbly keys, so...)

it doesn't have velocity, maybe preset levels via button functions,
among these are various transpose, pitch bend/modwheel fixed
functions.. something like 2and a half octaves...

what could this be transformed into? i'm carting it around in
my techjunk box, want to trash it creatively.
ideas please!

(and also have the longer version 4 oct fixed vel' minikey, same
shift+key options, with MIDI out plug and DC power in, can run
indep of PC, and on batteries->carting techjunk around... )

(does it contain any useful components like UART etc for recycling?)

Just guessing but:

If it connects to a joystick port then it probably has midi on one of the pins (you could add a midi breakout cable to joystick ports so reasonable to think midi is present?)

The maybe gut the electronics and build a midi pedal board or something.

yeahyeahyeah, that's the kind of thing...but what does a
MIDI pedalboard DO exactly? i never use the midi switch buttons
on my usb-midi keyboard...so sending single messages..

do such (devices) contain anything that can be used in building
MIDI to CV etc. eg: UARTS(not qqqquite sure what a UART is, but
i read it somewhere long ago)

in fact, i've got another joystick port midi breakout box( - found
in a mayan junk market in guatemala of all places! 10quetzal..it
was one of those where you go, now i wonder if i'll find anything
here...and it turns up a midi thing) ...that i've never used, of course.
anyuseful components in that? i've gotta unload a load of 'maybe' junk
imminently.

Personally, I use midi pedals to control things like loopers (starting, stopping etc.) but you could change patches etc too.

universal asynchronous receiver transmitter. May be of use if you know what you're doing and it's the right part etc etc. I wouldn't have a clue, just stick to easy things like arduinos.
