So for me this is not a question of polyphony or not, or arpegiator or not. Those are two different synths regarding sounds. The freebie is by far much more limited. To allow to use both is hard to understand for me.

It would be a tough challange to use only the free version. The 101 is for sure a nice synth. But I am not willing to buy it, just to use it in this OSC. I think it was a good tradition in the past to use only freeware or a demo version, which is fully working for a certain time or has some functions less than the full version. But to allow fully commercial synths will keep a lot of people from joining the OSC!

So I am not sure if I will do a track for this month OSC.
Hey, just continuing from last year's TAL challenge :)

Remember, Jasinski won using only the free U-NO-62 (TAL-U-NO-LX is commercial version). There are plenty of freeware arpeggiators. One of the main differences is polyphony. But this is a challenge, and it's super cool to support an absolutely amazing smaller developer like Patrick (TAL) who has been releasing some dynamite freeware the past few years.

I see it as even more of a challenge than normal to use it to make something beautiful. :)

I wonder if I could just turn on "create an automation lane for all touched parameters" or whatever S1 calls it & let automation define the patches...

I know it's only $50 and a steal at that.
But group buy possibly?

Everybody wins!
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

there is a definite difference between the two plug, even without considering presets.
the response of the free edition (non demo) vs the 101 commercial is abysmal - side by side with same buffer, there is prohibitive delay... filters do not respond the same, sequencing ability is worlds apart, and the free version does not seem to respond to midi mapping well. not complaining as i own the full version, but this will defiantly be an issue.

will there be 'consideration' for those who use free version/demo/full?
seems it should be narrowed down to one or the other - as there is quite a difference in 'usability'.

btw, greets all - been lurking for quite some time. almost entered the VOPM but had time conflicts. great to see mac compatible contests!

People will likely consider this when voting :) Remember, last year the winner used the free version of TAL-U-NO. All part of the epic challenge that lies ahead :box:

Another thing I want to say is that a good tune is a good tune is a good tune, no matter how it was made. Petrosfera for example made an epic tune from just samples of recordings from pots and pans.

That works in reaper, still probably a pita.

I just can say that the free Bassline is a very fun synth, and sounds nice, been fiddling with it yesterday. Would be a shame to leave it aside, just because it doesn't behave like the payware version. :) It's also surprisingly (for me) versatile for its limited feature set.

I've been trying this. I'd like to auto-change the sound preset. ReaControlMIDI can't do it, because it needs a .reabank for that.
I'm wondering if the JS plugin MIDI/program_bank_onload would do it? But I don't know the MSB or LSB to use.
