That is correct.
As mentioned, let us internally clear how we get that all sorted and I'm sure that something is available for everybody. See this as "extended testing period". ;)

photonic wrote:And special thank also to satYatunes to sourcing the prizes. Glad to see that those are other prizes as in the OSC.
That was our intention: focus on mixing tools.

Again, thanks for the congratulations. Please enjoy MC02.

Lets keep the ball rolling. We will keep it open and distribute the prizes in this thread. As mentioned already, the prizes will be distributed top down. mwaudioprod will select his prize from the pool first, then compyfox from the rest of the prizes and so on.. once you select a prize, I will send you a PM to gather necessary details (e-mail, etc.), forward those info to the sponsor, sponsor will send the prize to you. I would request you to refrain from contacting the sponsors directly. Please note the prizes are not transferable, what it means is, if you don't want anything from the prize pool for any reason, you cannot giveaway that to another contestant. Needless to say that all prizes are NFR (NOT FOR RESALE), please do not contact sponsors with questions on how to sell, transfer, etc. I hope it clarifies. Any questions? lets discuss in this thread.

@mwaudioprod - which one would you like?

photonic wrote:Hi all,
I feel the same surpise as Halma to become 3rd in place! :D :D
Nahhh.. I was not surprised cause I have heard your OSC tracks before. It was a very good mix.
photonic wrote: When I heard that there are al lot of contenders with a pro backround in mixing with all their high value plugins I felt really challenged. I thought I would have no chance with all my freeware plugins.

Now it seems that all my mixes of my OSC tracks and some practice with tracks from Mike Seniors website, helped me to reach a certain level.
Well, you have proved again that it's the tool and one's knowledge on the tool that matters not how much it costs or which company makes it. OSC is indeed a great place to learn. I will have to check out Mike Seniors website, thanks for sharing that.

cheers!
We have cafe contest, OSC and now a mix challenge at KVR. There are more in pipeline being finalized.

Hope to see you in MC02.

It's top down approach. I have clarified it in my post above.

Man do I feel honored. :tu:

Actually... if you look at the screenshots of my mix (can be found in the MC01 submissions thread, page 5 IIRC), you'll notice that the only really "expensive" (as in MSRP!) plugins I used were the Slate VCC, VBC (FG-MU on chorus vocals and FG-RED on guitars, since it's another Focusrite RED3 clone) and Brainworx bx_control. And they did very little to the track (mainly correction stuff, final sound shaping). The rest was either free ware (especially the reverb, delay and chorus I used) or what is considered "low budget" tools. Actually, I would have used Nomad Factory's British EQ up and down, if it wouldn't have crapped out on me with a random bug I encountered. So I settled with a different British company for mixing.

As Satya already said... good mixes are possible with freeware if you know how to handle your tools. I could have done the mix completely within Cubase (with the help from one or another freeware third party plugin). But it clearly shows one thing:

YOU are the important part in terms of mixing, not the tools you use. You merely control them, you shape the sound with them. They only make it simpler for you or not. Actual knowledge definitely beats any marketing blurb.

Never believe that the "tools" declare who you are - you do that yourself with the sound you create with whatever tools you have at your disposal!

But to get back on topic:
satYatunes wrote: @mwaudioprod - which one would you like?
mwaudioprod, please choose a plugin/bundle from the available pool on page 01.

A note on the winners.
We currently have four steps on the winners podium (in the future, three steps), but five people that were chosen to be favorites within the top four spots. Yet only four of these people voted and are entitled to pick up a free license due to the "participants/4 = license winners" rule.

So we have the challenge winners (the five people mentioned), and license winners (the four people mentioned). This is a little bit confusing, I understand that. But we'll sort that out in future MC's.

First selection down. On to the second one.

This makes it easy for me, I'll take the Tone2 bundle since I recently fell surprisingly in love with WarmVerb.
Thanks a lot.

Next in line is Photonic, then Halma.
