Did they just send you a PM explaining what happened and why?

Yep. All seems very generic and automated except for the case number etc

Well, at least they let us know...
Thanks for posting that.

So I'm confused. If you send in a remix of someones song THEN it does this?

I mean, lots of stuff is a repeat, I just want to post my gobbly gook.

Well this is what crossed my mind. I " believe " that it's selective depending on the track and record label.

My soundcloud is full of my junk, I like my junk, but not over the moon. But in my junk there is already a vinyl mix which includes many other tracks. Some of my Remux tracks, as I call them, have samples from many other tracks...these were not flagged.

The track that infringed copyright had been recorded, however, to some degree the waveform must have changed as it did have some post processing on to limit and blend the overall mix. Still it got picked up.

As far as a remix goes, it all depends I guess, on the algorithmn picking up the track or someone listening and reporting it. Does appear to be selective.

Anyway I sm sure peeps have read and done their homework :

I've just redited the mix taking out the infringing material...not removed, although the remaining edit had 1 bar of the infringing vocals and a few bard overlapping with the next track.

It's all pretty daft imho!

Thanks. I think I'm moving in the right direction of understanding this.

I dunno, I just looked over the plan again. Has it come down in price in say, the last year?

I really want to start posting stuff.

Post

They changed their prices about 9 months to a year ago iirc. The unlimited plan price dropped a lot at that time.

That's what I thought. I almost thinking it's affordable now.

Is anyone else having to log in to SC every time they visit. I thought that's what the purpose of cookies were for. Past 2 days SC wants me to log in.

Nope, that's not what EU copyright law says at all. Uploading other people's material is blatant copyright infringement, so in this case they got it right (whether it's clever is another discussion).

No login issues, but every time I go there, whether ten times a day or once a week, two things happen;

-It tells me that I must allow cookies, because SC uses cookies, yadda yadda.
One, I am accepting their cookies, always have. Two, the page does not always try to set cookies...

-It tells me that I have new 'notifications', whether there are actually new ones or not.

Every, damn, time.

I bought a month of Pro to hold me over since I let my year lapse, and Ive got a few days left. I have a few tracks to upload, but Id sort of rather punch SC in its face than give them more money... :borg:

Im considering a giant web of "nested" free accounts...
Anyone ever try that?
Use your 'main' page to repost stuff from multiple maxed out free accounts?
Cuz, reposts dont count towards time totals, and they list just like a regular upload...

Why not?

I get the cookie thing sporadically. The log in thing stopped, but it does seem that every day there's the notify bell lit up, and there's nothing new there...(?)

I don't have an account, but I ran into the cookies thing. Most of the time it's fine, especially direct links, sometime I'll go to the site and it will show the file, but nothing will play
