Personally, I don't have a big problem with the guy posting this. If it was just some guy joining up just to spam us that would be one thing, but he's been a member for a while.

Competently produced but had no special sauce, hook or standout feature, just another dance track floating amongst all the other detritus we all click past on the netz.

Maybe thats the problem, it makes this artist seem like another cloned bedroom 'producer' with nothing different or interesting to offer.

I dunno - IMU(seless)O, some of the advice given to him here is spot-on; those of us that have been into music for a while know all too well that success is usually a combo of working obsessively and lottery-winner-level luck, and even then, a music career can 'still' be short-lived (fashion is the rule!)--- and the successful thing itself might even drive you crazy (or kill you)...

Well, if you have some entries in your portfolio "I was winner of this and that remix contest...", then it can support the career.

But more important is that you can learn a lot by making remixes. You learn how successful songs are built! This knowledge you can use to create your own songs...

I'm not saying the OP wasn't w/o flaw, I'm just saying when the very first post is someone taking out their bad day on the guy (and the flood that followed)

So he wanted to vent, I don't think it was "bitching" as much as it's a forum, when you have something that is on your mind you POST. Seems like a difficult concept to a few people. (who think that they own everything AND are supported as such)

Actually, this thread was an attack of sorts. He came here to gather support and sympathy so he could feel justified in his disappointment at how others have let him down. That he bolted the minute it looked like people weren't going to be enablers for his sense of entitlement, is just another symptom of the underlying problem
There is good advice given over the last few pages, but maybe that's just too much effort
It has been discussed at great length on this forum, how difficult it is to get noticed amidst such a huge amount of collective musical noise. So when someone gets an opportunity to gather some kind of momentum, it is quite understandable for people to get upset when that person aint prepared to put in the necessary legwork to take advantage of that chance
I don't think it will help him to confirm his being some kind of victim

I would be bouncing on the organization responsible than try to garner support.

After all the contest was theirs not his to promote.

I congratulated him in my post if you actually read it. But dude is expecting promotion from a record company when the actual promotion was the contest that took place, do you not understand that?

Oh, and I forgot, it is you, Mr 40,000 posts, that owns KVR, how awful of us to step on your toes.

I won a pretty big competition, but no real promotion done?
