I won a pretty big competition, but no real promotion done?

Actually, this thread was an attack of sorts. He came here to gather support and sympathy so he could feel justified in his disappointment at how others have let him down. That he bolted the minute it looked like people weren't going to be enablers for his sense of entitlement, is just another symptom of the underlying problem
There is good advice given over the last few pages, but maybe that's just too much effort
It has been discussed at great length on this forum, how difficult it is to get noticed amidst such a huge amount of collective musical noise. So when someone gets an opportunity to gather some kind of momentum, it is quite understandable for people to get upset when that person aint prepared to put in the necessary legwork to take advantage of that chance
I don't think it will help him to confirm his being some kind of victim

I dunno - IMU(seless)O, some of the advice given to him here is spot-on; those of us that have been into music for a while know all too well that success is usually a combo of working obsessively and lottery-winner-level luck, and even then, a music career can 'still' be short-lived (fashion is the rule!)--- and the successful thing itself might even drive you crazy (or kill you)...

Maybe some of it was spot on, but mostly it was just a fresh meat thing.

I'm not saying the OP wasn't w/o flaw, I'm just saying when the very first post is someone taking out their bad day on the guy (and the flood that followed)

So he wanted to vent, I don't think it was "bitching" as much as it's a forum, when you have something that is on your mind you POST. Seems like a difficult concept to a few people. (who think that they own everything AND are supported as such)

I congratulated him in my post if you actually read it. But dude is expecting promotion from a record company when the actual promotion was the contest that took place, do you not understand that?

Still, should have been promoted by the record company itself.

Unless, of course, it was all in-house(?)

was under the assumption the contest was promotion by the record company. it is the contest that generates the buzz, not (necessarily) the winner. seems like if the artist had heard it and was excited enough about it to think it would help the original song, perhaps they would have reached out to our remixer already. that IS a possibility ya know
