One thing I'd like to see is, for the presets that use a wave sample or resynthesis, to see the name of the originating wavefile somewhere in the GUI. Even if it's been "edited" or modified in some way, it would be nice to see the original wavefile name. When this is given in other plugins it gives me a feel for the sound of that wavefile particularly if it's used in multiple presets; or else it gives me an idea along the lines of how to create a similar sound. I know you can save an existing wave out of a preset and use it that way but it takes longer to the point it's not worth it when browsing presets.

As an owner of ElectraX, this is such a miss-fire to me. Even though the patch browser update would be super helpful, I will not be picking up Electra2. The upgrade price is way off. I don't care about presets, but it seems like that is where they are arriving at their "upgrade" price. The Patch Browser is all they needed to add, and it could have been a free update for existing users. Especially considering how much ElectraX cost me already.

But aside from that, where they really miss-fired:

One of my favourite aspects of ElectraX was the GUI. I don't just create music with my ears. Sometimes I need to look at concept art, or arrange my DAW in a aesthetically pleasing way. Sometimes I even create loops of video to play over and over while I write. Sometimes, I like when a GUI can represent the mood I am trying to achieve. Certainly, vintage emulation style GUIs make me feel like I am Vangelis sitting at his work station, and the inspiration DOES flow as a result. But other times, GUIs like the original ElectraX present an opportunity to design instruments based off a look. That white synth GUI was perfect for creating icy echoes and sky soaring pads, and combining it with the other synths gave me a different way to visualize layers based off mood. I thought that was brilliant about the original.

Weird moves. I am not aching to get this. I am just curiously fascinated by the bizarre moves of Tone2.

Currently, it seems that they are not but I wouldn't be surprised if they provide them as a skin at some point. FWIW, I prefer the muted greys in Electra2.

I don't care about presets either but am thrilled with the ability to load samples and resynthesis. Some of the new filters and effects are excellent too. Having said that, I also think the upgrade price is high.

The one thing that hasn't been mentioned is Electra's mouse ranges are calibrated perfectly IMO. It seems like a small thing but, for example, I get frustrated with Diva with it's coarse being too coarse and it's fine too fine. It's a pleasure to be able to quickly find the right value on Electra without a struggle.

What you mention above was precisely what many people objected to about ElectraX, myself included. I understand your point, though, some people are visual thinkers, some people just find that a distraction. I myself would _love_ if every single plugin GUI looked exactly the same so I could focus on just to what a plugin sounds like - I find complex and "flashy" GUI's extremely distracting.

Just a quick 'thank you' to the guys at Tone2 who provided great and prompt support to me today in resolving an issue- I am more than happy with Electra2, it's a real playground and realy very easy to get good sounds from scratch.

Ah, true true. Sound is definitely paramount. No matter how nice a GUI looks, if the synth sounds jacked then there is no hope, haha.

Sound can easily trigger inspiration, too. And now that you mention it, I might want to try and experiment with not displaying a GUI at all to see what kind of inspiration hits me.
