It is, and it does save with the patch. For some reason I didn't manage to save proper earlier. My bad, sorry about jumping the gun.

That sounds reasonable. As for beta testing, I'm fine with that. ;)

Thanks Pascal.

DrewDale wrote:Has anyone been able to work out the Dexed_cart.zip feature yet? I put some sysex in a zip as instructed but I can't get Dexed to browse it. :?
I have the Dexed_cart.zip inside the same folder as dexed.dll is and pressing the Cart button top left, the User directory has the Dexed_cart.zip in there. All the separate bank folders I have inside the cart package show up under it and the banks load fine here.

Dexed_Cart.zip is now working for me, but only after renaming in Dexed_Cart (without the.zip in the name) :tu:

Any chance of a sneak preview for the GUI

 The mouse over, LFO type and the pitch eg values are now fixed. Check for the 0.6.1 version on the official page. Next time I'll do a beta test here. Thank you for your patience.

There is a sneak preview of the UI but it is not mine; I don't show something that is not mine. The 0.8 UI version will be done by the end of the year for sure !

The next version 0.7 is about some sound engine tuning: lower bit rate FM rendering and DX2* (4 op) support. This should be done pretty/somewhat fast.

Thanks again for kind comments and long live to the DX7.

This is an awesome VSTi. Thank you!!
Ever since it came out I've wanted a DX-7, but it's just never been within my budgetary constraints. This is the next best thing for me.
And having all those .syx in one cart? AWESOME!!!
Great work. Keep it up. :D

Post

Fair call on the UI I guess we can wait

Good work on the fixes too, this beast gets better and better, many thanks :tu:

I look forward to the 4 op support too. Time to trawl the internet for some 4 op syx file in readiness :)

Post

Yes, mouse over, LFO type and the pitch EG are indeed fixed now. That was fast, thanks. And also 4 op support coming..I really appreciate your effort on this!

Post

Thanks for the quick work fixing the LFO and Mouse over bugs :tu:
I have to say I am also looking forward to 4 op support, a nice addition to what is already an amazing synth. Thank you for your time and hard work

Thank you for the update(s)! Good stuff.

Please, No 4-OP support!

Dexed does not need 4-OP support to complicate things. Its coming along very nicely as a 6-OP hardware emulator and lets stick to improving that specific focus. Let 4-OP FM be the focus of a separate VSTI.

Hi,

I discovered Dexed yesterday, and i'm quite impressed by the sound quality.
I compared Dexed with FM8 and Octopus and i found the sound of Dexed to be punchier, volume enveloppe is snappier and faster.

4op's compatibilty will be a must for those like me who want to load famous DX100 presets like wood piano and solid bass.

Thinks i noticed :
Text color for volume, cut off and reso is hard to read, black on dark braun background
selected cartridge is not checked
no mono, portamento mode

0.6.1 seems now OK Tracktion 5.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your work.

+1 :tu:

I would also welcome Mono mode and Portamento mode too, just like the real DX. :)

I couldn't find anything for natural sorting in JUCE so just replaced the zip's comparison function with StrCmpLogicalW (only for win of cource), now cart list looks better.

Unfortunally it's just a dirty hack. Anyway, for courageous builders:
in juce_ZipFile.cpp

Code: Select all

-- return first->entry.filename.compare (second->entry.filename);
++ return StrCmpLogicalW(first->entry.filename.toWideCharPointer(), second->entry.filename.toWideCharPointer());

Wow this plugin looks fantastic. I can't believe I missed this thread for a month. Downloading immediately.

Let's not exagerate, either...

But it's true that Dexed is really impressive, and a very, very good work.
