Rhino 2 and Sonar

Hello,
First a big thank you to the great new synth!!
I have been able to play r2 in standalone with no problems at all. Yet if I run Cakewalk adapter and it goes through the motions. Then I go into Sonar, I can not see R2 in any vst pull down menu.
I have checked and double checked and scanned and double scanned. R2 folder is seperate from the original Rhino. I can see Rhino2.dll being scanned in the adapter list and I have no failures.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your help!!!!
Lance

Mine shows up as rhino2.... but I have don't attach VST prefix checked (or don't use VST prefix). If you re-scan, do you check re-scan existing plug ins? Also, check to see if it somehow got on your exclude list. Do you have your license key in the folder with Rhino2---I installed a synth and kept typing in a zero instead of an O.... so it never showed in my adaptor.... until I got the right serial number....(so maybe something similar is happening here) Finally, remember it can't be in the same folder as rhino.... so put it in a totally different folder.
Sorry if this is all really basic. It is amazing how many basic things I have overlooked.
Good luck

Thanks for the help,
I have tried all that you have meantioned but still nothing.
My key is in the folder...
R2 is in a different folder...
I have rescaned several times with all the boxes checked...
I am not sure how I can check to see if it is in the exclude list. Where do I look.
Also is there an update to the wrapper I might not be aware of? I purscased sonar about a week ago and maybe there is a new adapter.
Thanks I will keep trying,
LAnce

Did your CD come in at version 3.0, or 3.1? It might be worth checking the Cakewalk site either way.h2ogun99 wrote:Also is there an update to the wrapper I might not be aware of? I purscased sonar about a week ago and maybe there is a new adapter.

I'll check this out in S3 tonight, but it does appear as though Rhino2 and Rhino wont coexist in Bidule... only one of them turns up...

...and I've had report of the same problems with directiXer.
It's because plugins have this 4 letters ID that is supposed to be unique - Rhino and Rhino 2 currently have the exact same ID, which enables Rhino 1 presets to be accepted by Rhino 2. Unfortunately, it confuses hosts who really insist on having different ID's for different plugs.

Thanks for the reply!!
What would be my best solution? Erase Rhino? If Rhino2 uses my Rhino patches I have no trouble doing it.
Thanks,
p.s.

Hmmmm, I just installed both versions, and dedspite the ID clash, they've both loaded fine into Sonar3.
One thing, if you havent done it, install the Plugin Manager off the Sonar CD, then use that to check if Rhino2 has been Excluded from the list of DX instruments. If it has, re-enable it.

Not entirely on topic, but certainly of valid peripheral interest, the Cakewalk wrapper wouldn't accept the Rhino demo.I haven't tried again yet,but there does seem to be something about the synth and the wrapper that isn't 100% all the time.

i did a reset all on the Cake vst adapter and chugged through everything and I have rhino 1.09 and rhino2 both available in Project 5. rhino 1.09 is installed in the c: root and rhino2 is in c:\ProgramFiles but naturally both dlls are in the vstplugin folder.
but now that they sound the same to me I don't see much reason to keep that arrangement much longer.

... except that V2 is still in pre-release mode, so potentially a bit buggy.

To check if a plug in is excluded.... open the tool manager.... go to DirectX Instruments.... check the exluded box... bottom left... it will show you what is exlcuded. They are both there for me (big help... huh?)
Good luck with this!
