aMUSEd wrote:It has some nice touches though, I particularly like the fact that it runs the plugin scan as a background process meaning you can get up and running straight away without waiting for it to complete. It is very like Live in many ways though, can't believe they got away with that.

edit - god the included instruments and fx are very basic though! - nothing to compete with Live there, again I don't think the price is justified at this point, it needs to mature. The best thing for me is the modulation - so easy to use.
The modulation system is excellent... also, modulation between Bitwig devices runs at audio rate

The Bitwig devices are basic for sure. The instruments especially. The FX though, are interesting because of the nesting possibilities. For example, you can nest a distortion effect within the delay feedback path... and so on. Because of this, the FX are more interesting than they first appear.

Also, all the Bitwig devices are built with the underlying modular system. So Bitwig says that with version 2, that modular system will be open for users. So you can create devices or edit any of the included ones. Want an extra envelope on the included polysynth? You will be able to add it.

I like the Hybrid tracks. You can bounce an individual midi clip in place and then edit the audio, but the rest of the midi clips are still just clips. Great for tweaking one little place on a track. The audio editing is good too. Makes for a fast fluid workflow. For me it is one of those things that doesn't sound like much, until I was doing it then Live seems quite clumsy by comparison.

Then, as Hibidy said, there are the various WTF moments... for launcher clips (session view equivalent) there is currently no clip record count-in. :dog: It is a bug that has not been fixed yet. Bit by bit a bunch of those sorts of things have been corrected... but there are plenty still.

No SAWStudio, no vote. Image

By the way, it's on sale for only $1500 USD, guys. Get on it!

I just think it's funny. The moment this gets bumped back up reaper surges ahead

What are the odds that Mixman comes from behind and wins it? :ud:

Probably slim since Mixman doesn't make a DAW.

I wouldn't invest in that bet :hihi:

But it would be REALLY cool if all of the sudden people started voting for it :o
