No idea. I've never used Tracktion. It looks like it can use AU plugins, so if those work, I would use AU in Tracktion.

If there is a GUI bug in there, it is doubly ironic, as the developer of Tracktion is also the developer of Juce, which I use for my GUI framework.

Yes the AU's work and I was thinking the same thing about the irony :) There are quite a few plugins that show up with a black gui in T5 at the moment though - all of them it's just the 64bit VSt version so it would be useful to know what is going on.

Sounds like a Tracktion bug!!!

I suspect that the recent beta builds of the Valhalla plugins would work, as these use a fairly up to date version of the Juce framework (3.0.5), and I would expect Jules to be testing the latest Juce plugin code base with Tracktion. However, if the plugins built with the 1.53 Juce framework are having problems in Tracktion, that seems like a pretty big issue for Tracktion, as the other major VST hosts out there can handle this framework revision just fine.

In general, I tend not to respond quickly to bugs that are specific to a new release of a DAW, as these bugs are often fixed with an update to the DAW. Putting a bunch of DAW-specific kludges into my code base weakens the code base, and can create unintended bugs for users of other DAWs. Plus, if the DAW fixes the bug, it might end up breaking my plugin that has the DAW-specific fix in there.

Yeah it probably is T5 - the pattern is interesting: the same problem occurs with 3 of yours but not Freqecho or Shimmer (do they even use JUCE?), several newer Arturia plugins (which I think also might be using JUCE), and all the new AAS plugins (not sure if they are using JUCE now too - it doesn't mention in on the JUCE site). Only the VSTs and only in the 64bit version.

Anyway I've reported it to the TSC guys too.

FreqEcho and Shimmer use Juce, but were compiled in 2010. The non-beta versions of these are 32-bit VST only (on OSX), so that might explain the differences. The others use the 1.53 Juce framework from 2011 (I used this framework for VintageVerb, even though I programmed this in 2012, as the Juce code was in a weird transition period during 2012). I'm pretty sure Arturia uses Juce. It would be interesting to see if the older Lexicon PCM/LXP bundles have issues in T5, as these were compiled with the Juce 1.53 framework as well.

AGAIN with the amazing 1970s Don Ellis / Bernard Hermann improv! Someone needs to make a new movie set in New York in the summer of 1975, and have Simon score it. Seriously amazing work.

Great stuff. Chapeau to Simon and Sean. I had another listen to the Stick Guitar piece on that page too - sounds marvellous.

I got the beta already. Thanks Sean! So far so good, tested in Reaper 64 on Windows 7, mostly. Love the new algorithms so far. Dirty Plate surprised me by almost sounding like PSP piano verb:

Incredible stuff. Both the music and the reverb.

I couldn't find the Stick thing on the page, but the Guitar Jam with the Smooth algo is absolutely delicious.

Can't wait for this.

Simon's gone from doing illbient to doing oceanic (Talk Talk Spirit of Eden - both the horn and the guitars).

Awesome.
