Changing OS (W2K to XP)

Has anyone overwritten W2K with XP without having to clear the HD? I'm looking to change my OS to XP and don't want to re-install all of my VST's or DXi's. I'm using Sonar 3.11 as my sequencer.
Is there an easy way around this or do I stick with W2K?
Changing OS to keep current.
Thanks.

I switched to XP from 2K and I am very pleased. Some of my synths wouldn't even work under 2K...Didn't have any problems with XP...I strongly suggest you format your hard drive and do a clean install because updating never works without any problems afterwards...The usual drivers updating and irqs clashing and that kind of stuff are always irritating (that's what I encountered when switching to XP without the clean install)...Do a standard pc install...Google for "optimizing pc for audio" or something like that and you should find a lot of tips how to set up you windows xp just for audio work...

SAB,
A fresh install will require reinstalling all of your apps.
