There is a big difference between such polls.
On other forums like Gearslutz, Reaper has about 12% (Win+OSX) and Logic has near 19%. Steinberg Cubase/Nuendo (all platforms) are with 23% the most used DAW.
On KvR Reaper is the rising star.. no idea way, but it's interesting

Because Reaper users, just like Linux users, are the Jehova's witnesses of software users. There, i spoke it out.4damind wrote: On KvR Reaper is the rising star.. no idea way
Edit: Oh, and sorry to the serious Reaper users, who don't need all of that.

Confirmed. Here is their "Keep Reaper in the Lead" thread:chk071 wrote:Seriously, can't think of any other user group, who feels it is necessary to call for reinforcements on their user forum to effect a poll on another internet forum.

And here is Bill Carroll rallying the Cubase troops:

The whole thing is ridiculous.

I've seen the FL forum do this too with polls - it happens everywhere, it all equalises out in the end

it's quite hilarious. it's one thing for any of us kvr members to bother to click (after so many similar threads, none of which make a fucken bit of difference). but to join up just to do itaMUSEd wrote:I've seen the FL forum do this too with polls - it happens everywhere, it all equalises out in the end
reaper was doing really well anyway, but now we have the equivalent of over-eager parents doing anything they can to get their little kiddie on top. it might end up a victory, but how hollow when you remember how they ended up winning
let them come. in fact, all daw's need representation from outside to restore balance. it still means nothing (no best daw, only best FOR YOU), but at least kvr gets more hits, and we get more "my daw is the best daw" fodder to throw in front of the kvr cannons
come one, come all
p.s everybody knows that logic is the best daw. and if it were cross-platform, all you other-daw-using idiots would know it

Does anyone really take these polls that seriously?

As mentioned earlier, my Ampex avatar should give this away. I don't take these polls at all seriously.... It's all just a bit of tongue in cheek fun IMHO.Frantz wrote:Confirmed. it would be nice if polls were useful but they're not and it's not just KvR...skewing the polls why? To promote the company? Polls that are nonsense to begin with? Really, dont these people have anything better to do with their time...like say make some freakin music on you DAW.
I have always sided with underdogs, dont know why but that's how I am and I have shown it countless times here, I dont do trends, I do things my way. I dont believe in the best, best for me yes but even that is not set in stone. This is why you just dont see me arguing hosts, just ftr...I bet if I went to the Samp forums and tried the same thing (which I would not do) I would get nothing but negative reactions and maybe 5 more votes. That is not saying Samp users are better, Samp is better, just some people have better things to do with their time. One thing for sure, I feel it would hurt my rep there and I already feel very outclassed there. (that has nothing to do with the members of the Samp forums, I read there a hell of a lot more than I post because these folk know what they are talking about)
It does bring up one question though, what really is the difference between a vendetta and an agenda? Hypocrisy is alive and well at KvR

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Sitting back, enjoying some popcorn.
In the meantime, I'm kind of surprised that the vote count for Logic and ProTools - I thought that these users are all over the place. Oh wait... this isn't GearSlutz or a representative "music industry poll". But we apparently have a sh*tload of Cubase users (hmmm.....).
Also, this list is incomplete.
Wavelab and EnergyXT isn't on that list. Where is Sequia? Where is Steinberg Sequel? Plogue Bidule?!
And most importantly... what does that poll tell us?
Oh, popcorn is empty... Let me just quickly refill it.

Dunno. It could tell us that some Reaper users maybe just really enjoy watching KVR go batshit over this kinda thing. And most importantly... what does that poll tell us?
It's all good fun to watch happen but anyone with half a brain could see it coming. I posted this below on July 18th, when S1 still had a meager lead.
