hello,
let me start by saying...i apologize in advance if this post is in the wrong place, or breaks any rules (i dont think it does).
im looking for an old freeware program called sound raider by andy wilson. basically what it does is scan your hd for wav files...then manipulates them and plays them back.
i have attempted to contact the guy who made it, with no luck. there are seemingly plenty of places to dl it from, but none of them work. the dl link on his page points to wired magazine...but since its so old that link doesnt work anymore either.
at the time i had it before, i really really liked it, unfortunately my sample library was quite small. now that i have a decent library i would really love to try this again.
again...it was freeware so im not trying to do anything underhanded here.
does anyone have any info that might help me out?
thnx in advance
heres the page for it:

Never heard of this program but.. interesting conceptSound Raider is a music creation tool that works by scanning your hard drive for WAV format sounds and uses them to create industrial-ambient sound. Leave Sound Raider running on the desktop and listen to your hard drive muttering to itself. Sound Raider starts working as soon as its loaded - the best way to use Sound Raider is simply by launching it and leaving it to look after itself while you work.
No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

I have also tried to find SoundRaider without any success
As for the moment I have this: http://aug.ment.org/datadada/index.php
It is a program that will make NOISE and I mean NOISE out of everything on
your harddisk.
If you like TOTAL MAYHEM sounds this will surely bring a smile to your
face.
It also make some "pictures/movie"
Cheers

sweet thanks!
although this isnt the right one. i mean it is...but it doesnt function as the one i had did.
the one i had had controls on it...so you could lock/mute channels, or shuffle the sounds. you could also control the speed at which the sounds were cycled through.
the most important difference is that this one wont play in the background...so you cant just leave it on and do other stuff.
still i thank you very much for this...ill make it work until i can find the other version.

I found a later web snapshot from 2008: http://web.archive.org/web/200805062213 ... raider.zip
But the zip contains the same file as the 2006 link. An EXE from August 2002.

well...it does work, but it crashes frequently, and theres no way to exit out other than task manager (even when it hasnt crashed).
im on win7 and i havent tried any compatibility modes yet.
still...it does technically work.
