Of course, I was talking (mostly to myself, lol) about the way to emulate the soft and hard spikes from Dune 1.4. in Dune 2. If you want to move away from 4-stage envelope, you bypass the regular ADSR.

Hi,bought Dune 2 a short while back. Along with Spectral this probably my favourite synth,however I noticed some strange behaviour in Fl Studio.I've posted this bug on the Synapse Audio forum,but I thought I'd alert you to it here as well.

When programming some patches for Dune 2 using FL Studio 10.02, I noticed that that Lfo 1 turns to unsynced when set to sync whenever I press play. Once the patch is playing you can set it to sync and it stays in sync.However when you press stop Lfo 1 becomes unsynced again. This does not happen with the other Lfo's only Lfo 1. It can also be replicated with the factory presets. I'm planning on putting together a Dune 2 set of patches in the near future,and want to use to use Dune 2 in some of my tracks so if this problem can be resolved soon that would be cool. Thanks.
I also use Reaper and Ableton Live so I don't know if this is a problem that occurs in these hosts. I'll get back to you if it is.

Maybe thats the reason I've had some unexplainable lfo sync probs with Dune 2. Sometimes being able to modulate arp and sometimes not.

I can't reproduce this in FL Studio 11.1. Try right clicking the LFO Sync buttons and select "MIDI Forget". See if that helps............ :)

Thanks I'll give that a try. It's possible in the mousing around I did to feel my way round I accidentally set something to midi learn without realizing.
Let's hope it's something that simple.
I should upgrade Fl Studio really,but everything works so...

Other than this little niggle I'm loving Dune though. Really easy to program and nail good sounds right off the bat. The whole voice allocation thing had me a bit confused at first,but once I tried a few things out it all fell into place. I've written about 32 patches so far and I'm aiming for a set of 128+ by the end of the month. The one advantage of having Lfo 1 not functioning correctly is getting into the MSEG's as a workaround ,which is proving quite interesting. I just need to get my head round the whole Audio-Term wavetable creation thing and things will get very interesting indeed.

Also, could anybody tell me what sample length each single cycle wave in a wavetable should be? There doesn't appear to be anything in the manual covering this. I had a Java applet back in the day that generated single cycle waves using fractals. I had a lot of fun importing them into Z3ta. Very harmonically rich,sort of like a Supersaw but with their own vibe. With Dune's capabilities these waves could do some serious damage...

I'll try and remember what this applet was called and put a link up if it still exists.

2048 samples per cycle. Max 64 cycles per table.
So at 44.1k, 2048 samples is 21.53hz. Assuming A =440hz that would mean 0.3 hz from F0 at 21.83hz. Should I tune these these samples to 21.83hz after converting to wavetables,or does Dune automatically compensate for this discrepancy?

The frequency is 21.5332 Hz. This corresponds to F0 detuned by 24 cents at 44.1 kHz

You need to detune your source to get a sample of 2048 samples long. They will then work correctly when stitched together in the WT utility.

So let me get this straight,you're saying having each single cycle tuned to 21.5332hz is cool and that I won't need to re-tune each single cycle wave to be exactly at F0,prior to creating the wavetable? Twenty four cents seems off by quite a bit,especially when one factors in the detuning that Dune is capable of. Or is it a case of this detuning being factored in and corrected by Dune itself since 2048 samples is the standard? I've mucked about with single cycles before but haven't really used them in a serious manner before and this possible problem only just occurred to me.My aim is to put out a set of presets for Dune 2 for commercial release.Programming patches using the existing resources that come with Dune is an easy task for me and not a problem. When I started using the Wavetables included in Dune I thought it might be cool to create some Wavetables of my own to include in the set. A little research showed me that it wasn't quite as straightforward a process as it would first appear to be. Though of course I may be overthinking things. :?

Don't worry about tuning. If the wave cycle is 2048 samples long then it is correct. The most important thing is to avoid discontinuities between cycles in the wavetable, that can lead to blips, clicks and aliasing. The effect of these discontinuities is reduced by filling up fewer of the available 64 slots. I find having 8 unique cycles gives enough sonic character with few artefacts, since D2 does an excellent job of morphing between them.
