Whats up KVR!?
..
Havent been on here in a while but hope everyones been living well. I've recently conducted a survey regarding what newbies (getting into the game of audio production) are spending their money on. The survey was conducted amoungst 75 people and when asked the question 'what are the items on your list for your first setup?' 86% of aspiring producers had these items in common:

- Macbook Pro
- Zoom TAC-2
- Equator D8's
- Focal Spirit Pro
- Komplete Ultimate
- Fabfilter Total Bundle

Now this is a very interesting choice for a first home studio set-up but if you look closely, it seems pretty logical. What are your thoughts? Could the whole 'im after analog warmth' thing be over? Will native instruments produce easy mixing and mastering solutions such as Fabfilter kicking them out of the game?

Oh by the way nearly all participants are going with Logic Pro as their primary DAW

Evidently they all have too much money on their hands...

Hang around with more interesting musos, preferably ones with their own thoughts and ears? Most of those 86% won't be working in music in 5 years, I'd focus on the remain 14%; although it does sound like you might have some hidden factor that made these "choices" ridiculously modal.

Logic doesn't make good music, but distinction increases odds.

These threads just keep coming, how can you be new and a producer, putting the finished product together when you just started....

Well a bunch of questions were given in a multiple choice format. Like 'which DAW are you choosing?'
a) FL Studio
b) Ableton Live
c) Studio One
d) Logic Pro
e) Pro Tools
..
Sort of like that

And all the music they will be making will sound exactly the same. You can tell which CM tutorial they followed.

:hihi:

Funny, but true. It's like buying the signature guitar of your favorite band's guitarist and learning all his licks - you'll only ever sound like what you try to copy if you just put the blinders on and follow a pattern like that.

Newbies know nothing ... so the poll seems pointless (unless you're trying to sell them something).
