As you guys might of seen in the posts below, I'm will returning back my "desktop replacement" Dell Inspiron 9100. Yeah, its powerful, but with a heavy weight and poor keyboard - its not a pleasure to use for making tunes on the move. So, I want to look into light notebooks with Centrino M processor. I have been told, they are equivalent in speed to P4 by multiplying it by 1.5 factor. Any comments on that? Does anybody uses a laptop for Centrino for music production? What is your experience and comments about the system power to handle heavy-duty VSTi? CM did a review of Centrino laptop about 2-3 issues ago, and they were raving about the speed and performance. Just curious to hear from more users here.

Pentium M 1.6 IBM laptop here. Light (2.5 kg), nice keyboard, beautiful screen, incredible battery time, and as powerful as my Athlon XP2800+ desktop

I'm solely using my Dell Latidude D600 with 1,6GHz and it's frickin fast... the only thing to slow sometimes is the HD.. although I have the 5.600 ...but when running BFD and 30 audio tracks that's no surprise *gg*

thanks to Tracktions "freeze all frozen tracks to one audio track" it's no problem at all.....

still the keyboard is pretty much the same me thinks... and Dells support is a bit strange, at least in germany... all of the phone support staff don't speak german very well let alone english ...

I still kind of concerned with Centrino M vs Pentium clock speeds. Is there any resources on the web comparing their performances? Is it safe to assume that Centrino M 1.7GHz can have a performance similar to P4 3GHz?

Any users of laptop w/Centrino mobile cpu?
