So you like everything else about Reason, but you're not able to make music with it because it doesn't have edit groups or multitrack editing?!HobbyCore wrote:Does it have edit groups or multitrack editing yet?Wake me when it does please.

When you do anything that involves more than 1 microphone on the same performance (more than 1 mic on a guitar, live band, drums, di/amp bass, horn section), multitrack editing features are an extremely basic thing.
It is 2014, not 1978. Being able to experiment with composition and sequence of multitracked material is something that nearly every DAW can do. Being limited to editing features that are only on par with a tape machine is ludicrous.

So you think we couldn't do those things in 1978? Are you stupid or just appear that way? In 1978 I could...HobbyCore wrote: It is 2014, not 1978. Kidding...just jumping on the off point bandwagon that everyone else seems to be on right now.
The point is that we will just have to WAIT AND SEE what is in store for Reason 8. It is a fantastic upgrade because it WILL improve our workflow within it!
And, if you don't like paid upgrades then FL Studio is awesome. I have them all (except Ableton which I used to own). And I am NOT a fan of Reaper or Studio One or whatever. And I am not really a fan of any program...I just view them all as tools...which require payment for upkeep and management...like everything else.

You know, I actually wrote a small bit about being able to do those things on tape by just recording to a second machine, cutting, then dumping it onto your main 24-track...thejonsolo wrote:So you think we couldn't do those things in 1978? Then I realized that's not even doable in Reason anyway since that still involves being able to edit multiple tracks at the same time in the same way.
Reason is not even on par with a tape setup in this regard
I do agree that people need to chill out though. There is obviously more to this Reason 8 update... I hope.

Last I checked, in a poll on the Propellerhead forum that had 150 respondents, half were either not going to purchase the update or were undecided. Again, I am a Reason fan, but it seems that with what has been disclosed thus far even the Reason diehards are a little disappointed with the update.

Yeah, but can you even drag and drop samples into Ultrabeat or drag patches from the browser into the timeline (like Props is displaying in ReasonTheoM wrote: Don't laugh but i am one of the weird ones who doesn't really use drag and drop much even in logic. I also enjoy the reason browser as it is believe it or not. That's something i always liked about the software! I really want improvements to the core program itself, not superficial stuff.

Well I fired up Logic X at work today was curious to see what new etc and the spacebar does not go back to the beginning when you hit it twice. It does if I hold Shift tho. Maybe that behavior can be changed in Logic but it behaves similar to Reason.Orbit-50 wrote:Yeah I know about that krucial. It's annoying to no end. I just can't use Reason like that. When editing I want to hit the spacebar, sequencer stops, hit the spacebar, cursor goes back to the beginning of the bar and starts playback from there. Every other DAW has this option. I can't imagine why Reason doesn't have this. Thanks for your suggestion though.krucial wrote:Have you tried "Shift-Return". Once to stop, twice to go back to the beginning.![]()

Sorry, you can have your lawyer call mine and you can commence a civil lawsuit against me for misinformation. No need. Just something I notice and thought I should mention it. Anyway the way it works in bitwig is cool so I understand where you are coming from.Orbit-50 wrote:Sorry, you can have your lawyer call mine and you can commence a civil lawsuit against me for misinformation. Honestly, that is the lamest announcement for any upgrade for any DAW I have ever seen. The vid times in at 2:09, and yet the first bit of info about what is in the upgrade doesn't arrive until 1:05 - halfway way in. By 1:40, all the info has been given. 1/4 to tell us features - a new browser that drags and drops, 3/4 to tell all pretty much nothing. If there are some kickass Softube guitar and bass amps in upgrade, then they should have some guitar and bass playing in there. Showcase the amps some. They had over a minute and a half to do so. It's just like a really bad movie, and totally not up to their usual standards. Completely uninspiring.pc999 wrote:https://www.propellerheads.se/products/reason/reason8/
Not much info, just say it reworked the interface and workflow, plus new amp models.
Baffled. Do they want people to upgrade? Maybe they want you spend instead on some new Rack Extensions. This is one lean upgrade. I'll skip this one.

I love the new third party plug ins that... wait... Line 6 stuff will be removed? Really? Backwards compatibility will be hamstrung for anyone upgrading to a version that will exclude the Line 6 stuff.
So when will the Softube stuff face the same removal? A few versions when the companies no longer want to keep their license agreements?
And where's the larger UI on the rack items? It's well beyond time for larger GUI elements. We are using massive screens with retina-style pixel density and Reason still has the same rack UI size as version 1.
Well, I just bought Reason 7 on June 3, and miss the free upgrade by a month. I'm not interested in a new flat UI fad, Softube plugins and... nothing else.
