DX7 patches for FM8

It's just really annoying with how inconsistent the file and bank browser seems to work. Mostly converted presets only appear in the file browser, and once in a blue moon they'll appear as a bank in the instruments section. I'd prefer if I could get all of them into the instrument panel. I just want to do things like search for brass and make it list all the patches with brass in the name. File browser won't let me do that.

Ask a friend with NI Kore to fix them for you

Actually I have imported something like 10,000 DX7 patches into Kore via FM8 from the original DX sysex patches, and roughly categorised them all (by roughly I mean mostly based on either clues from the original bank name or keywords like "Bass", didn't have time to go through every single one) - they are in ksd format but should be importable into FM8 and have bank names because I gave them some.

Do you have a pack of all the DX7 .sysex files still, for use in Dexed?pbleyer wrote:Hello.
I collected several DX7 patches (8000+) from the usual DX7 sites on the net and converted them to FM8 format. The file set is here if you need them.
Cheers.

Remember, you can enhance many DX7 patches a lot in FM8 using it's possibilities.

There are many duplicates and many unusable sounds among thoses DX7 patches, I agree. There's really only 3 FM patches.

Well, if it was good enough for an entire decade of pop music, it's good enough for meThere's really only 3 FM patches. That bass one, the bells and the Doogie Howser piano. Seems like you probably have a lot of duplicates.

The issue is that unless you have specified a bank name in the metadata for FM8, it will not show up in a bank on the preset browser and you have to do an old fashioned windows-explorer type submenu search in the left window.
There is no batch editor for this now Kore has gone, so the only way to organise banks is to do this yourself, one patch at a time. I spent a little time lastnight reorganising my banks into the FM8 system, having found them again on rekkerd!
I will reupload my newly formatted banks (2x128 sounds) to rekkerd next week.

Yeah, I think those set DX7 apart from the rest at the time. It's (fm) capable of much more.GruvSyco wrote:There's really only 3 FM patches. That bass one, the bells and the Doogie Howser piano. Seems like you probably have a lot of duplicates.
