Seems this is the most logical forum to post it I guess.....

I'Ve been looking at Wavelab 4 for a while and kept an eye on probable pricedrops for it since Wavelab 5 is shipping. So far only http://audiomidi.com is the only one with a major pricedrop (currently $359). Just picked up my copy. Although shippingcost to Holland are major ($42) it still saves me about $120.

Just wanted to let you know about this.

Well, what a f**ked up experience this turned out to be.
Although I love the product itself... purchasing it from AUDIOMIDI.com was a nightmare.
First I waited for 2 weeks before contacting the helpdesk; product was shipping the day after they told me. After one more week of waiting it seemed they cancelled the order..... Re-ordered it but had to pay UPS an additional $109 for taxes before getting it. Both Audiomidi.com and UPS claimed this was normal procedure and taxe-rates were the problem here.
WTF?! I've order software and sample-CD's before form Germany, UK and the USA annd never had to pay beyond product- and shipping costs.
It's not that I lost money over it but I could saved a lot of time and shit by just picking up a copy here in Holland. The prize in the end it the same.
Anyway, this is the first and last time I ship with UPS.

The 2 times I placed orders with Audio midi, I had to cancel them, coz they did something to piss me off. They ususally lie about an item being in stock..

I avoid UPS like the plague that they are.

Your lucky, on every product Ive had from the states Ive had to pay import duty/taxes plus tax on shipping  . I think its around 17% on software and electrical stuff here in Austria. Its the norm, I wasnt to happy about it considering the price of a Kyma sytem :-o

Post

I've been lucky and only ordered physically small stuff from the States, which gets ignored. I guess anything of significant size (like this) gets noticed and charged for. World free trade, that's the answer...
Three shall be the number of the counting

And the number of the counting shall be three.

So it seems I was lucky with all the other purchases.
I must say they never were any higher then $100.

I guess pay and download is the best option; no shippingcosts or taxes..... 8)

Thanks for the feedback btw!

Shame, Thomann (http://www.thomann.de) has it for 469 euro. May have worked out cheaper in the end.

Audio-midi.com lie to me too. I order a product and they tell me it ships today.

I call two weeks later. I had order the last product and they mistake by sending it to someone who order after me!!!!!

I cancel order. They forget to remove credit charge. I had to take much time with credit card company to remove the charge.

This is not how to do business to keep customers!

Soon to release my new album! Alive in Chernobyl - "Dead Inside"

To get away with the taxes when entering your country, it often works if the company you order from, sends it as a gift.

I had exactly the same problem with them. Except after I cancelled my order and argued with them to take it off my credit card bill, they still sent me the product when they _finally_ received it in stock. They immediately discovered their error and (sheepishly) asked me to return the product as soon as possible. All the time, I was enjoying the product ordered from another company that sent it out within a week.

By coincidence, I just received this in my email bag from audiomidi.com:
In our newsletter dated 06/24/04, Native Instruments Guitar Rig was incorrectly
advertised at a price of $245.00. This was incorrect, and should have reflected
the correct price of $445.00. We apologize for any incovenience this may have
caused.
Granted, we all make mistakes. However I have chosen to spend my pennies elsewhere.

I have probably ordered from audiomidi.com about 20 times this past year, and I have never had a problem. In fact, the customer service has always been excellent -- they immediately call and e-mail when a problem does arise, and they are very flexible when it comes to canceling/modifying orders.

I order VST5.1 2 years ago there for 250 euro at Thomann. Upgraded to SX2 for 200 euro last month. So that was a good deal. Anyway, I've learned my lesson.
I always keep track on MusicStore/Musikproduktiv/Thomann. They alway offer pretty good prices.
