bduffy, couldn't be explained better!
especially the last sentence, that's what i experianced, too ...
there were a lot of reverbs, and i often was fooled by the first impact, but after a while of tweaking and then comparing these to aar, the aar always overruled them all ...
btw, one mistake you did: aar has 7 algo's, not 5 ... ;)

so, to sum it up:
you simply cannot go wrong with the artsacoustic reverb ...
it's just so flexible at a constant high end quality ... with a bit of tweaking you'll always find great results for most of all given tasks ...

Yep, like a good wine, AAR ages well with time. :D

The real question is "Is god so powerful can he make a reverb so good that he cannot make a better one?"

Here's a comment about EAReverb.
This one is from 2011 ;-)

"Well i am shocked, which basically means i am impressed.
A completely different beast. It actually is like an up to date, 10x better version of waves trueverb.
I don't think there's a more realistic reverb for this task than this one at present. it's really all about placing the sound in a space, and it simply excels at that. Well done. Very very natural, and smooth sounding. Impressive, reasonable cpu usage."

For information, EAReverb SE has been released since then...

I own Trueverb and I just picked up EAReverb SE by EAReckon and have to say you may want to give it a try. It is like Trueverb in that it focuses on small room simulations but I find EAReverb to be more natural sounding. They have a demo.

+1

TrueVerb is rather special. It's good for small rooms, ambiences, especially on drums. But for natural sounding longer reverb tails it sucks. I don't use it anymore since Valhalla does the better job in every situation.
