I have a dirty little secret!

I'm an old man by anybody's standard, but thats not my secret. My secret is I'm an old man who's heavily into dark ambient drone. My brothers and all my friends, if they knew, would take me out and stone me to death. I'm sure they don't even consider this genre music, but I love it and find it sonically beautiful. It clears my head, relaxes me, and allows me to get into deep meditative and contemplative states of mind. If anyone of you out there share my enthusiasm for this genre, I would be greatly appreciative if you would share the names of some artists and compositions you find worthy. Thank you.

Do you use Spotify? Tons of artists on there. Do a search for one artist for example lustmord and more artists will pop up in the related section. It's not really the kind of stuff I would be into myself but your thread prompted me to so a search.

I've listened to a ton of dark ambient. I find it refreshing and meditative like you described.
The genre is pretty vast, so I'll try to get some variety here:
A good place to start might be this dark ambient label (100+ videos):
Robert Rich
I linked a 7 hour album, it's meditative and hypnagogic
Robert Rich & B. Lustmord
This track comes from a great album named 'Stalker'
Inade
Very dark, I got freaked out listening to Inade once at night with headphones and my back to an open space
False Mirror
Place based and atmospheric
Some other names to check out:
Kammarheit
Yen Pox
Atrium Carceri
Related videos on youtube have been very effective for me, as well as last.fm

There are some artists who come here that make some pretty killer ambient music. I would recommend checking out this artist.

Even if I am just a Rock guitarist I give my little contribution (after all Robert Fripp is one of my favorite guitarists) ...

I like Steve Roach very much, I think some of his output can be classified as dark ambient drone.rcat wrote:heavily into dark ambient drone..
