Yeah, the green lantern. I'd been waiting for this for ages. Since before the fire even.
And I can show the GUI to the whole family.
Nice. Thanks !

Didn't know who Joe Meek is. Googled him. Guitarist for the Tornados. Have their instrumental Telstar on a CD or mp3 somewhere but didn't know the name of the band members. Was gonna use the Telstar guitar solo for this video but changed my mind since this plugin seems to work better with rock guitar rhythm than with guitar solos, imho.

Ah! the wonders of modern technology!harryupbabble wrote:Didn't know who Joe Meek is. Googled him. Guitarist for the Tornados.
Quite unable to play any instrument, he was nonetheless quite an innovator in the field of recording - to the extent that the NME rate him #1 in their '50 Greatest Producers Ever' list.

Maybe someone should have a quiet word with Google ...

Ooops sorry. It wasn't Google's fault. Here was a plugin called MeekPro and a few of its built-in presets with "Joe Meek" as part of the name. I Googled "Joe Meek" and a billion results popped up, I did a quick look of the first page of results and all I really saw was "Tornados" and "Telstar". I wrongly presumed that the MeekPro plugin is named after a guitarist, it never occurred to me that it could be named after a producer. Again, oooops.Syntilla wrote: Ah! the wonders of modern technology!

Good ear, though (trust it over Google every time!) - you recognised this isn't a guitar-solo-prettifier!harryupbabble wrote: Ooops
While not exactly a 'wall of sound', Meek's boundary-pushing techniques, such as extreme compression, distortion and multiple overdubs using machines that really weren't designed for the purpose, gave his productions a solidity and weight that's hard to emulate even now.
He famously advised George Martin not to sign the Beatles, turned down Bowie, and on auditioning Rod Stewart's band ran from the room with his fingers in his ears the moment he started singing - eventually agreeing to work with them on condition that they only record instrumentals.
But the people he did work with is a veritable who's who of 50s/60s British luminaries.
With around 40-odd UK top 50 singles, he's hardly the most 'successful' producer of all time. And opinions will always differ on who's the 'best'. But I'm struggling to think of anyone who'd be considered more influential.
This plug makes a pretty good attempt to bottle some of his spirit - which we can all now tap into, for free.
Good work!

Thanks, appreciate the thumbs ups, I wanted to give Joe a nod. I didnt put the spring verb in the plug in, because of cpu concerns. But I plan to release that free version on my web site.
The green lantern started out as a tube amp, but I couldnt find a sound in the beta versions so I studied Joe for that inspiration.
