Questions concerning Magix Music Studio Deluxe 2005.

Does anyone know if Magix Music Studio Deluxe 2005 have support for multiple output VSTI and loading soundbanks in VSTis? I currently own Deluxe 2004, which I like but its shortcomings bother me. Because I can’t change soundbanks, I’m forced to use mainly softsynths with patch/bank changing parameters as part of the GUI if I want a lot of sounds using the same VSTi. As an example: I can use Triangle I, but I’m stuck with its default sounds whereas with FreeAlpha I’m free to change banks thanks to its own patch functions. Without multiple output support I can’t process my drum sounds individually when I use CM SR-202 or CM505. Is Magix Music Studio Deluxe 2005 worth the upgrade?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't (well the UK 2004 version doesn't, and that is the same as the US 2005 version I gather)
perhaps someone else who uses it will definately confirm this (I was using it but went to Cubasis inorder to use Groove Agent properly, both recording MIDI output from a VSTi and the multiple outputs)
cheers

It does have multipule outs. 4 stereo or 8 mono and has vst 2 and asio 2 support.
Download the 2004 upgrade 25mb from the english site. That will upgrade it, with all the new features of the 2005 version(althought it still calls itself 2004).
I'm not sure why you cant change soundbanks. I do it all the time. Maybe it could be that the vst you are using is a vst 1?
Try using the event list editor and insert a control bank change where you want. Use the "88" button.

When I call up a multi-output vsti in the mixer, for the outputs all I see is 3 stereo pairs and I can only choose one of them.fake wrote:It does have multipule outs. 4 stereo or 8 mono and has vst 2 and asio 2 support.

The upgrade is apparently gone because I searched the MAGIX site and found no such thing.
I use all free vstis including recently created ones and known favorites like Triangle II. Can you explain how your able to change banks especially with softsyths that don't have patch/bank parameters as part of the GUI(Lallapallooza lite for example)?
Can you also give more detail concerning using the event list editor to change banks?

I think 'fake' is answering a different question - MS does have multiple audio outs, but not I think multiple outputs from VSTi's, which is what terryturtle wanted
you can try upgrading using the UK upgrade - I've no idea whether it will work, but I'm sure that Magix can't use the multiple outputs feature from VSTi's.

Sorry, I should have read youre post closer.
Thanks peter you are right. Its not for vsti's multiple outs.
Because of the structure of the event list editor, it can be dificult to understand. The manual, page 271, goes into detail but can be confusing.
But. if you open the event list editor and click on the "88" symbol, you can insert a program change event. This will be inserted at the current location. ie where the black arrow on the left is.
You will then be able to alter the bank select "number" and program number "value" (patch). This will allow you to switch between diferent banks and patches within the same synth and more! Just add a program bank/patch change where you want.
It did take me a while to suss out though!
The event list editor is a very useful tool.
Hope that helps

Thank you Fake and Alston. I appreciate the help from both of you. Using the list editor just to change soundbanks seems to be a long-winded way to do something that's simple in other programs, but I'll try it. As far as the multi-output vst problem, it looks like I'll have to create and process my drum parts in another program then import the results backfake wrote:Sorry, I should have read youre post closer.![]()

into MAGIX. Now I'm starting to feel like I should have won the eBay bid for Cubase instead of Music Studio Deluxe.
