You're not going to convince people though, bud. Honestly, someone like us who uses a shitload of vsts (or au's in your case) are not the target audience. It's mostly audio based. The forums back this up. In fact, there seems to be a push AGAINST improving midi or cpu performance. I think the program is fine, but the cpu performance is GHASTLY bad.

Post

Performance might be worse than Logic's or Cubase's but S1 2.6 works well enough on my machine (i7, 16gigs of RAM, SSD...).

Okay, I noticed Studio One has better performance than Orion, but compared to cubase and the like how 'ghastly' bad are we talking numerically? documented?

If it's not V3, then it's a serious troll by presonus.
I feel vindicated.... :) There's some right numties on that forum. Although, the dude with the Batwings logo for his avatar is cool (can't remember his name).

Dunno', with all the work flow options I still favour S1 about all else. I wouldn't go back to Logic or Ableton. And I don't really have the cpu problems. But that's probably the way I work.

I feel that it's own instruments really need to be tweaked. The sampler is really basic and so is Impact. Mojito is a cool little synth. But it'd be nice to see it with another few Oscillators.

The work horse FX are good, and better then Logic's. Kinda' prefer Logics boutique ones tbh.

But all this is irrelevant, because I use 3rd party stuff for nearly everything. And I'd be the same on any other DAW.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

Same here. Although, I'm trying to fit Live into my workflow (Live's not for me really, but I'm doing my best).

Yeah, I don't think I've ever used their instruments, just checked them out and that was the extent of it. FX are really good OTOH, I'm using ProEQ, FatChannel, delays, IR Reverb all the time (guitar amp is a dud though).

Damn you Presonus if you don't come out with V3. Holding onto my cash is .. so .. hard .. :ud:

The ProEQ is excellent! And has a load of options, and it fits in seamlessly with S1's work flow (for side chaining, etc.) Reverb is great, even the mix-verb is cool. Overall it's FX are very good I'd say. I would like to see some more boutique ones.

FatChannel was a great little bonus, as well as the new and improved FX (the mix knob added to them - Sweet!). And all this came in free updates. People always seem to forget that.

Ha ha... 'Dud' Yeah, what's up with the 'new and improved Amp sim', it's shite! I see they released a metal one, but I didn't think it sounded good either.

Mojito is a little gem of a synth. Not really used the others all that much. The Sampler sounds okay and has nice filters, but overall I'd still prefer the ESX24 including the functionality.

I'm interested to see what S3 will bring. :)

I'm not naming names, I'm just saying all the joy was sucked out. Used to be my favorite forum.

Lol. :) Change is difficult and one thing that happened there with the changeover was that the new forum was fully unlocked to everyone and their grandma (read crack babies). :hihi: I think the early direction or re-arrangement was partly due to that, but it's calming down a little now. But yeah, they apparently did intentionally set a new tone more towards music and product support and less toward cat pics and other general stuff in the main forums.

There's a kazillion music forums on the net so... no biggie. ;) We can always find one to do whatever we want to do.

At any rate, on topic, I'm pretty sure that the Sept 2 announcement isn't v3.

It is. I don't know if Eike Jonas still lurks around these parts (rumor is he works at NI now), but ProEQ is one of the best stock EQ's I've used, functionally, mmv as usual. I haven't used another stock daw EQ with ...

- Spectrum sidechains (dual overlaying FFT's)
- Third Octave, FFT & Waterfall displays
- A fully tweakable micro view
- Showing / hiding all or one response curve
- A collapsible UI

He did a really great job on that plugin. FabFilter is more functional sure, but it's also not free with any workstation.

"for real?"

I hope it's not. Then the joy outta luck club can win!

Yeah. I'd take Johnny's word (strong suggestion) on that, mmv.

Not to mention that the video is in Louisiana and the S1 software is developed in Germany and the guy in the vid wouldn't need whatever that thing being covered up there is if it was software, he could just stick it in his shirt pocket. :hihi:

Wow, I somehow never noticed it can do that! :o
Thanks for the tip! :tu:

I was looking for quite some time for an Analyser which can do this, and it's right there inside my DAW... hilarious.

Absolutely! It batters anything I've tried that is bundled within a DAW so far. They really improved on the earlier iterations too. And that was all free!

Yeah I agree... Fab Filter and Equilibrium can't really be beaten, but S1's gives a good account of itself. :)
